 Let’s have fun with words. Make an amazingly gorgeous ‘vocabulary hanging’
for your class with the help of your parents.
a. Pick out any one word from the book you have read.
b. Illustrate this word on a card board sheet. An example of the word
“computer is done for you.
c. Make 3-4 small words from the word chosen by you.
d. Place the same words on a card board sheet and make cutouts of any
shape ( the illustrated example has oval shape cutouts for words. You can
take circle, square, triangle, rectangle, star crescent etc.)
e. Hang it with a string to the main word cutout and the ‘vocabulary

Activity
1. Creating an abacus
Material required
 Toothpaste box
 2 pencils or sticks
 Beads of different colours.
Procedure : Take a toothpaste box and make two holes at a little distance from each as shown in
the figure.
 Paint the box or cover it with coloured paper and decorate it.
 Place two pencils or sticks in the two holes. These pencils represent ‘tens’ and ‘ones’.
Label them as shown in the figure.
 Add beads to the two sticks to represent any numbers.
For example:- 3 beads in the tens stick and 5 beads in the ones stick indicate the
number 35
