Time for us to catch up with all that we have been longing to do. Go for a long walk with your parents and enjoy the beautiful morning sunrise and evening sunset, admire the beauty of nature, hear the chirping birds and see the fluttering butterflies. It is time to catch up with Grandma’s never ending stories and play wonderful games with Grandpa. To add to this fun time, we have prepared some fun-filled activities to be done in the SCRAP BOOK. 1. Draw four objects using Triangles, Squares, Circles (For eg. If you want to use Triangles to make a Figure, then use lots of triangle but no Squares, Rectangles or circles.) 2. Paste Pictures of the meals you take in a day. Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Dinner. (Cut out pictures from magazines and newspaper.) 3. Know about a railway station. Paste pictures related to it (for eg. Ticket counter, railway engine, railway tracks hawkers, food venders, waiting lounge etc.) 4. Collect and paste picture and wrappers of the items that are used to keep oneself clean. Activity:- 8 2. Activity- Watermelon- Strawberry Pops What you need: 1. 2. 3. 4. Watermelon 9-10 strawberries ½ cup sugar 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice What you do:1. Cut the watermelon into big pieces and help your child to remove the seeds from it. 2. Blend watermelon in a blender. 3. Strain through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl. 4. Add mashed strawberries to bowl. 5. Add sugar and lime juice and stir until sugar has completely dissolved. 6. Pour mixture into ice – pop moulds and insert sticks. Freeze pops until solid. 7. Your watermelon pops are ready to enjoy!!! 8. Give it to your father on father’s day . 3. Activity – Know your Name Knowing the letters in your name, and the order they go in, is an important sign of kindergarten readiness. But it’s not as easy as you might think! Children need repeated practice, and at this age, their restless little bodies demand that the practice be as hands – on as possible! What you need: 1. Letter Cut outs 2. Scissors 3. Glue 4. Colours Activity:- 9 What to do: 1. Take the cutouts of the letters in the child’s name. 2. Paste the letters on a strip to form the child’s name. 3. Spell his/her name aloud and point to each letter as you name it. On a second reading, have your child join you. 4. Next give another set of letter cutouts to the child to match and paste below it. After your child gets good at her /his name puzzle, try creating additional words like mother’s name, father’s name, brother’s name, and words he/she can relate to etc. You can also play letter games likes Simon Says. Put a variety of letters cutouts on the dining table or in the floor then say, “Simon says take out letter C”, and so on. Activity:- 10 Activity- Sock Bunny! Need something to do with all those lonely socks that lost their mates in the wash? Try a little creative, eco friendly activity and turn those misfit socks into bunny puppets! Children can tap into their creativity while doing their part to help the environment by reusing the waste. Activity:- 11 What you need: 1. 1 light – colored sock (look for socks with textures or patterns) 2. Rubber Band 3. Cardboard reused from cereal or cracker box 4. Newspaper or tissue paper reused from gifts or store packaging 5. Scissors 6. Markers 7. Fabric glue/Fevicol What you do: 1. Ask your child to fill the sock3/4full with crumpled tissue paper or news paper. If you are using sock made of thin or white fabric, try using light colored tissue paper since newspaper may show through. 2. Fold over the empty part of the sock and wrap a rubber band around to secure it in place. The rubber band also helps separate your bunny into two parts, head and body 3. Cut two slits in the top of the bunny’s head where the ears would go. 4. Have your child cut out two bunny ears from the cardboard. What shape is a bunny’s ear? Long – Oval Shape 5. Help your child dab a small amount of glue on the ears, and then insert them into the slits. 6. Encourage him/her to add a face and other embellishments using markers. Activity:- 13 Paste different types of colored fishes by using glaze paper. You may add waves with dark blue crayon and draw some shells too. Take a rectangle piece of cloth 18"/2”. b. Write the letters (Aa to Zz) as shown. c. Take a thumb impression below the letters. d. Outline the object with black fevicryl colour. e.g. using red fevicryl colour they will make a for apple, b for beetle etc.. and for other pictures use relevant colours. 5. Similar pattern will be followed for rest of the letters. 6. Show your creativity to make the boarder of the table mat.
