Our thanks go to the many volunteers and supporters who
assist the Chamber throughout the year.
T
his month is the Chamber’s annual Business Expo, set for
April 9th at Liberty Center in downtown Liberty. The Expo
has always been one of the Chamber’s flagship events, as
it exemplifies a primary function of any chamber of commerce: to
promote the businesses that are so vital to our economy and local
infrastructure, and link these businesses to the people who are
most interested in the products and services they offer. The Expo
brings both the business sector and the buying public together under one roof where each has the opportunity to ask questions, exchange ideas and information, and put names with faces.
The Expo takes place from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m., and there is no
charge to enter. Attendees may purchase tickets at $1.00 each at
the door. Walk through the booth area, select your favorite door
prize(s) to be given away and drop your ticket into the container for
the drawing at the end of the day for that prize. Also, a card with
names of all exhibitor’s and their booth number (‘Visit Every Booth’)
can be purchased at the door for $1.00. Fill in your name and cell
number on the card, visit every booth, and have your visit verified to
enter the drawing at the end of the event for a $100.00 Chamber
Gift Certificate.
The Chamber is still taking applications for exhibitor booth space
at the Expo. If you’d like to be an exhibitor just download the 2015
Business Expo Packet here from our website. Complete information regarding booth rentals are located in the registration packet.
As always we hope the Business Expo generates productive (and
profitable) contacts for everyone involved. See you there!
Also coming this month is the Chamber’s annual Administrative
Professionals Day Luncheon, set for 11:30 a.m. Wednesday the
22nd at Liberty Center. This is a day set aside each year worldwide
(with different dates in certain countries) to recognize the work of
receptionists, administrative assistants and other administrative
support professionals. Anyone who owns or manages a business,
or works in and around an office environment, knows how indispensable good office professionals are to the success of their business.
We thank them for their hard work.
This year’s Administrative Professionals Day Luncheon is graciously underwritten by Magnolia Place Health Care, LLP in Liberty.
Chef Amber Lawson will be preparing a fantastic meal for the
event consisting of roma tomato crustini, romaine & field greens
with fresh berries and balsamic vinaigrette, homemade lasagna,
grilled chicken with alfredo or marinara over linguini, assorted
cheesecake, chocolate mousse parfait, and Red Diamond sweet
tea and water.
Many thanks to those who have donated to prior luncheons—
Carol Bond Health Foods and Southeast Texas Olive.
Please return the registration form on page 9 of this newsletter by
Monday, April 20th.

We extend a big welcome to Liberty’s new police chief, Thomas Claunch, who served

enforcement, Chief Claunch held the position of assistant chief while in Webster, where
he spent twenty-three years of his career. He was sworn in to his new position at the
Liberty PD on March 20th with wife Becky in attendance.

The fund provides grants supporting strong projects that are based on good ideas and compelling needs having the potential to improve local communities and the lives of the people living there.

Rusk, Smith, Upshur, and Wood Counties.
The company’s press release in late-2013 states “The fund is designed to help improve East Texas communities and the lives of their residents through grants to qualifying non-profit organizations in the counties where TransCanada pipeline operations and
projects exist. All funded projects and programs fall within three charitable categories:
community, safety, and the environment.”
Applicants must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations or government entities. Their

EXPLORE TEXAS DRILLING
Ever wonder which counties in Texas rank
highest in oil production? Where drilling
permits are being issued in your area?
What the latest job openings are in the oil
and gas industry?
Find answers to these questions and
more online at TexasDrilling.com, a website that provides data on drilling locations
and oil wells across the state.
Users can view the quantity of producing leases in each
county, the number (and names) of producing operators,
number of drilled wells, amount of oil and gas produced,
and a breakdown of recently spudded wells. Google maps
are used to show the locations of well sites.
In addition, persons seeking employment can view job
postings for positions in the oil and gas industry that can
be filtered by location. The site uses oil and gas data from
the Railroad Commission of Texas, and makes it easy to
find what you’re looking for.
An optional subscription service is available that provides users with additional features if needed.
