By signing this Event Registration Form, the Participant/Sponsor agrees to the following: 1. Participant/Sponsor (Participant) agrees to hold the Liberty Humane Society (LHS) harmless and shall defend and indemnify the LHS against all litigation, liability or expenses arising out of all actual or alleged claims, demands, causes of action, liability, loss, damage and/or injury or damage to any person or property, together with fines, penalties, and all costs in connection with the defense thereto, including attorney’s fees, arising out of or incident to any acts, omissions, negligence, or willful misconduct that may occur in connection with Participant’s activities or those of the Participant, or Participant’s agents, employees, helpers, volunteers, and/or guests, of which may occur on or about any part of the subject premises including Participants display space. Participant waives any claim against the LHS, and assumes all liability for loss or damage to Participant’s property entrusted to the premises. 2. Set-­‐up of entries and displays must be complete at event opening and must remain set up and open for business until show closing. 3. The LHS reserves the right to demand removal of any items or materials not in keeping with its image. 4. The Participant will grant the LHS permission to use their photographic likeness, logo, and/or product images in any and all of its publications, including website entries, without payment or any other consideration. 5. The LHS reserves the right to make rules and regulations as it deems proper and necessary and the Participant agrees to accept such rules and regulations as interpreted by the LHS. 6. Participant agrees to abide by all municipal, state, and federal requirements and agrees to obtain all necessary permits, licenses, or certifications required in connection with Participant’s business or sales including but not limited to food & beverage preparation/handling. 7. This agreement and performances here under, and all suits and proceedings here under shall be interpreted and construed pursuant to the laws of New Jersey. This constitutes the Entire Agreement between Participant and LHS; any modification or change must be made in writing. 8. Battle of the (meat)Balls 2015 Participant/Sponsor Information Sheet Location: Bayonne High School Athletic Facility, 669A Avenue C, Bayonne, NJ 07002 Date and Time: Saturday, May 9th from 1 PM-­‐4:30 PM Setup/Teardown Times: Competitors may begin arriving at 11:30 AM and must be ready by 1 pm. The event runs until 4:30 pm and all competitors must stay in place until the event ends. Battle of the (meat)Balls is a one-­‐day meatball tasting competition open to home-­‐ and professional chefs. Contestants will pay an entry fee (variable upon professional, home, or youth chef standing) to submit food to one judging category. Awards will be given to best submission on five categories: Traditional, Non-­‐Traditional, Vegetarian/Vegan, Dessert, and “Best Balls” (People’s Choice vote by donation) Competition and Entry: Each competitor will be allowed one entry in one of four categories per entry fee: Traditional, Non-­‐Traditional, Vegetarian/Vegan, Dessert. Prizes will be awarded for each category according to judge’s choice. Every entry will be eligible for the “Best Balls” People’s Choice award. Entries will be judged by a panel of three tasters and scored according to a pre-­‐determined set of criteria. All entries will be judged anonymously and in competition with each other entry in the submission category. Winners will receive an award and mention in post-­‐event press release, e-­‐newsletter, website and social media. “Best Balls” award is a People’s Choice competition and will be determined by a “Dollars for Votes” system. Guests will be encouraged to drop a donation into a jar at each competitors exhibit as a “Vote” for the Best Balls trophy. The competitor who collects the most donations wins. There is no limit on how much a person can “vote”, or how many entries they may to “vote” for. Public Audience and Tasting: Tickets will be available to the public to attend and taste entries for $15. Competitors are encouraged to bring attendees, however no more than two people may represent a competitor. Audience will be given access to unlimited taste with entry. LHS will make water and soda available to the public. Competitors will also be exhibiting their entry for public tasting and should therefore anticipate 200 tastes per entry to be available. (Approx. one full or two half-­‐size aluminum tray) A taste should be 2-­‐3 bites: one 1” meatball, or a small portion of a larger meatball. Suggested tasting set up: competitors serve balls or portions of balls in small Dixie-­‐style cups w/ toothpick for eating. Event Set-­‐Up: Competitors are expected to prepare the entry in advance and bring it to the event. Each competitor must have a chaffing & sterno set-­‐up (no other warming or heating methods are permitted), serving spoon, serving cups, toothpicks (or like), and napkins suitable for an estimated 200 samples per entry. Liberty Humane Society can provide an event set-­‐up for a $20 fee. LHS must be notified in advance if an event set-­‐up is requested. Any competitor without an event set-­‐up the day of will be disqualified and will not receive an entry fee refund. Balls will be plated for the judges to evaluate, and the remainder of the tray will serve to allow the audience to taste a variety of the competition entries. LHS will provide and assign a table, chair, tent card for each competitor. We reserve the right to place two competitors at one table to reduce crowding. We reserve the right to place a “Best Balls” donation jar at each entry display. Competitors may bring one 24” Wide x 32” High sign to advertise or promote their entry, and/or literature to put on their event table. We reserve the right to approve and/or remove any items on display. Sponsorship: In addition to ONE competition entry, Sponsors will be acknowledged in event press, signage, announcements, and post-­‐event notifications. Each sponsor is held to the same rules and regulations as a Chef Competitor with the exception of: Sponsors may bring one (1) 6’ Wide x 2.5’ High banner to be displayed at the event.
