Job Description
Assistant will place phone calls to prospective students. Information packet follow-up and
encourage/request application. Career Night and Open House invitations. Place calls to doctors and
others to promote and organize Career Nights. Accurately record call results using EMAS. Follow
detail-oriented protocols. Ability to read maps (to determine prospective student location relative to
Career Night event site). Assemble and mail Admissions information to prospective students.
Miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned and other duties as needed. Minimum Qualifications:
Effectively communicate philosophy of chiropractic at Life West. Must have excellent telephone
etiquette, interpersonal, and customer service skills. Ability to quickly learn and follow detail-oriented
protocols. High level of dependability is essential (willing/able to commit to and work assigned
schedule). Enthusiastic with positive attitude. Willing to hire 1st quarter students that show
exceptional potential. Prefer students willing to work for us until they start clinic.
Maintaining the organization and cleanliness of the Lab (a sample of specific duties are listed). Assist
dissecting instructors as needed. Washing gowns, changing out shrouds, rotate sheets (every 2-3
quarters), open lab for groups of students at lunch or after school (recommended minimum of 3
students to a group), refilling chemicals and “watering” the cadavers, End of Quarter “Spring Clean”,
assist with the Japanese Anatomy Program (when applicable), reporting any incidents, keeping tally
of cleaning supplies for future purchase and reporting of any equipment needing attention or
replacement, and wash, fold, and keep organization of the protective lab coats. Students must
commit to 2 working quarter with approximately 5 hours per week. Training of daily procedures is
required prior to commencing employment (approx. 1 hour). Students with anatomy lab experience,
or who have already taken regional anatomy classes preferred.
Students will operate the cash register, stock shelves, and cooler. Cleaning when necessary and put
order away. Assisting customers as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Be able to lift heavy boxes.
Cash register and customer service experience preferred.
Applicant must be eligible for Federal Work-Study Award. The Advancement Assistant will research
alumni contact information, assemble and file new donor files, generate pledge reminders and thank
you letters, assist in mail projects, stuffing, labeling, sorting, etc. Make phone calls to alumni and
donors (following-ups and event invites), miscellaneous clerical duties as assigned, and assist with 1
Position Available FWS other projects as needed. Minimum Qualifications: Must be very
dependable (willing/able to commit to and work assigned schedule. Must have excellent telephone
etiquette, interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to learn quickly and follow all protocols.
Prefer students with technical background in MS Office and/or donor software.

Circulation assistants are responsible for accurate charging and discharging of library materials and
audiovisual equipment, advance booking of reserves, usage statistics, and collection of fines using
manual and computerized methods. They also open and/or close the library, which includes the
computer lab whenever it is unstaffed. Adherence to library policies, constant coverage of the
circulation desk and security gate, and maintenance of good relations with the public in person and
on the telephone are expected. In addition to duties at the desk, supervisors will assign other tasks
daily, such as: re-shelving, shelf reading, photocopying, and refilling copier paper. Assistants will
provide patrons with basic direction in using the online catalog and locating various library resources.
They will also recognize and refer appropriate inquiries to reference or audiovisual staff. Assistants
will document problems and unmet requests, and suggest improvements in library services.
Assistants must familiarize themselves with emergency procedures. On weekends and some
evenings, assistants may be responsible for the library without supervision .Minimum
Qualifications: Applicant should have a responsible attitude. Experience which shows ability to take
note of details, follow procedures, provide friendly service to patrons, and communicate well with
staff. Modest typing skills. Ability to work with minimal supervision, and willingness to quickly learn
about the many policies, materials, and types of audiovisual and computer equipment found in the
library.
Applicant must be eligible for Federal Work-Study Award. Review of confidential interview data,
searching for key words and phrases according to study protocol and training. Within 3-days
(immediately), the work-study must complete the NIH online training to obtain their certification in
“Protecting Human Research Participants” (PHRP). The dated PHRP completion certificate must be
printed out and provided as hardcopy record to the work supervisor (Dr. Monica Smith). The PHRP
online training consists of seven modules: each addressing the principles used to define ethical
research using humans and the regulations, policies, and guidance that describe the implementation
of those principles. Four of these modules are followed by a quiz. The entire PHRP course will take
approximately 3 hours to complete, as per the website. Within 3-days after providing their hardcopy
PHRP certification, the work-study student will then schedule a training session with the work
supervisor (Dr. Monica Green) to learn the study protocols for: confidentiality and data protection;
review of narrative interview data; searching, recording and synthesizing key words, phrases, and
context flags. The work-study will also work on-site (LCCW Research Offices) during hours that the
campus is normally open. The work-study will meet weekly with the work-study supervisor to report
work progress and receive new work assignments as needed. Work-study student will complete all
task work assigned during the 2-month work period of May 1, 2015 – June 30, 2015. At the end of
the assignment, the work-study will transfer all completed reports and all study materials to the
supervisor. Minimum Qualifications: Internet access for completing initial PHRP training at NIH
website. Computer literacy with using word processing and spreadsheet software. Ability to faithfully
adhere to study protocols and to work with minimal direct day-to-day supervision. Past experience or
training in qualitative data analysis is a plus and will be considered in determining final job title (WSRA Level I or II), and corresponding wage rate.
Applicant must be eligible for Federal Work-Study Award large enough. Assist Open Lab faculty with
paperwork and other duties in lunchtime open lab. Minimum Qualifications: Student must have
completed Diversified, Gonstead, Toggle, and Drop techniques and have a minimum 3.0 cumulative
GPA.

Assist a visually impaired student during required labs. Lab Assistants are hired to aid students with
visual impairments by describing and guiding them through the physical mechanics and dexterity
requirements of lab activities, e.g. lifting, pouring, writing, palpating, locating, identifying structures,
etc. Lab Assistants do not act as collaborators or tutors or note takers. Minimum Qualifications:
Must have a2.5 cumulative grade point average or higher. If grades fall below 2.5, the student will not
be able to continue. Prefer Junior or Senior student. Effective communications skills and ease in
relating to people. Responsible, professional, flexible, and dependable. Responsive to email
communication. Effective time management. Service dog friendly. Confident and outgoing
personality. Must have signatures of approval from faculty members of classes they desire to act in.
Experience with lab and safety protocol. The students may only work in classes they have completed
successfully (must have subject area knowledge). Students may not be an aide for classes in which
they are currently enrolled. The aide may be evaluated by the student at the end of the quarter.

services every Friday for Chiropractic Seminar. The assistant occasionally provides video recording
and photography services during the day, evenings, or weekends for club meetings or special
events. The assistant routinely cleans audiovisual equipment in the department and in classrooms.
Assistant reports problems and communicates daily with the manager of the audiovisual department
in case they need unanticipated assistance. Additional services (scheduling, media releases, and
summaries), and reviewing recorded materials for technical quality and content. Minimum
Qualifications: Experienced with photography, video recording, PA sound systems, personal
computers (Windows and Macintosh). Ability to complete both clerical and technical aspects of the

Students with FWS Awards are needed to work at the Family Emergency Shelter Coalition (FESCO)
at 2 Hayward locations and the Hayward Public Library.
FESCO - We have an immediate need for a volunteer to assist our Activity Leader with our children’s
program on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00-8:15. (There will be short break between
6:00-6:30 while the children eat dinner.) We are looking for an individual, who can commit at least
three months, and preferably 6-12 months to this program. This position involves working directly
with children; you should be interested in engaging them in reading, tutoring, enrichment, sports, and
exercise activities.
FESCO - We have an immediate opening for an Office Support Assistant. This position includes
basic office support duties such as filing, copying, scanning, mailings, phone and reception, etc., as
well as a strong focus in marketing and social media. We are looking for someone with creative
ideas who will post to our Facebook and Twitter accounts. This position will be approximately 3-5
hours per week.
Hayward Library – Help English-speaking adults and ESL’s improve their basic reading and writing
skills. Work one-on-one with an adult who can meet when you are available. Requires an interview,
