“The Heart of Country Living”

“The Heart of Country Living”
When you attend the 55th Lincoln County Fair July 14-18, you will experience the “Heart of Country
Living”. While at the fair, you will notice a number of new entertainment features as well as some changes
to favorites. Make sure you check the schedule for changes. With a new carnival provider, you won’t want
to miss the rides. New entertainment is scheduled with the Garden Tractor Pull, Emerson Petting Zoo, and
other attractions. You won’t want to miss out on anything! Make plans to take a ride with the carnival, taste
delicious “fair food” or simply sit and relax with friends. You are certain to find activities and entertainment to enjoy at the Lincoln County Fair.
The fair was started, in part, to “promote and conduct youth fairs and wholesome activities and entertainment; to encourage competitive exhibition of livestock, food products, articles of clothing; art work
and handicraft for the youth of Lincoln County; to encourage the breeding and exhibition of livestock; to
encourage and promote better agricultural practices and to provide means for the exhibition thereof; to
promote and encourage civic improvements; to promote and stimulate an interest in wholesome recreation
and sports, to encourage, foster and promote scientific education; to encourage home management, including the preparation of foods, cooking, sewing and the exhibition of the finished products.” The legacy of
the original nine-member board is evident today as the current board of directors continues to ensure the
purposes are adhered to.
The Lincoln County Fair has a strong history of promoting animal agriculture and home science
through the exhibition of hundreds of projects shown by 4-H and FFA members in addition to the open
exhibitors displaying the top notch items they produce. These exhibitors are the future of Lincoln County.
Their success throughout life will ensure a better Missouri and world for all of us. Exhibitors spend many
hours preparing for the fair, whether in creating a display in the 4-H exhibit hall, Vocational Agricultural
display area, or through raising and showing their livestock. Exhibitors put their “hearts” into every project they display.
Enjoy the Lincoln County Fair events and activities as you experience “The Heart of Country Living”.

(Come On In Boy),” “These Are My People,” “Watching You” and “If You’re Going
Through Hell (Before the Devil Even Knows).” His fourth studio album, Take A Back
Road, yielded Atkins’ fastest-rising single to date with the title track and his new
single, “Eat Sleep Love You Repeat,” is currently at country radio and available on

Easton Corbin
9:00 p.m. - Main Stage
With two No. 1 singles, multiple awards and nominations, plus performances on some
of the biggest stages in the world, Easton Corbin made an auspicious entree with his selftitled debut album. When Easton broke on the scene in 2009 with not one, but two, No. 1
singles, “A Little More Country Than That” and “Roll With It,” and a Top 15 hit, “I Can’t
Love You Back,” the country music world was put on notice. He became the first country
male artist in 17 years to have his first two consecutive singles reach No. 1. Billboard.
The new album’s title cut is as definitive for Easton as “A Little More Country Than
That” was on his debut. “‘All Over the Road’ is a fun title,” he contends, “but it’s also
actually what we’re doing out there. We’re all over the road trying to get music out to
everybody, so I just thought it made sense.”

In memory of Gary Shaw
1953-2014
A big man with a big heart and even bigger personality doesn’t
begin to describe Gary Shaw. Anyone who attended a tractor pull at
the Lincoln County Fair would recognize his voice. Gary knew many
of the pullers personally and made sure their pull was about the driver behind the wheel.
Gary passed away on December 30, 2014. Gary grew up on a farm
and loved every minute of it. As a youngster, Gary would help his
father with the chores on the farm. As an adult, he continued the tradition of working on the farm with his dad. He married the love of
his life, Nancy Cunningham. Gary and Nancy were blessed with two
children, Brad and Diana.
Gary announced tractor pulls for over 30 years in Iowa, Illinois
and Missouri. Following his retirement from farming, Gary worked
for Cannon Excavating. He also was an auctioneer. Gary was a member of the Hawk Point V.F.W. Men’s Auxiliary, Hawk Point Booster
Club and loved playing cards with family and friends. His family
meant everything to him and was the joy in his life.
Gary will be missed by all that knew him.

2015 Friend of the Fair
Jerry “The Trash Man” Konersman
“What’s in a name?” many people have asked over the
centuries. Well, for one Lincoln County couple, the name
says it all - or maybe gives a very limited idea of who a
person may be.
Jerry Konersman has been known as “Jerry the trash
man” to the Lincoln County Fair members since 2006. He
simply can’t remember for sure when he started his “career” with clean-up, but contributes his beginning to Daisy
Mordt asking him to help. Jerry and his wife, Pat, started
working with the fair because they wanted to give to the
community.
Jerry does more than “work” on clean-up. He brings
his tractor, trailer and ATV to the fair each year as part of
the efforts to ensure a clean grounds every day of the fair.
Jerry indicates he enjoys working with youth from Camp
Avery on the effort to provide fairgoers an enjoyable experience free of debris from others. He and Pat do more than
help clean the grounds every morning. Making the rounds
to workers parking cars providing them with a cold drink or perhaps a sandwich is part of their evening
routine. Pat says Jerry then goes home, sleeps a few hours and returns to the fair grounds to begin the
daily clean-up work.
When this energetic couple finish with events at the fair, their community service does not end. Both
Jerry and Pat volunteer with the Lincoln County Old Threshers.
While most fair visitors may not notice Jerry has been there, every one of them would notice if he
had not given so much of himself to ensure their enjoyment.
Jerry and Pat, Thank you for your efforts for so many years. You are greatly appreciated.
