Backyard bbq contest
1. Barbecue is defined as products prepared on wood, gas, or charcoal fire. No electric heat
source!
2. This contest is open to boys, girls, men and women; amateur and professional barbeque
chefs.
3. Contestants may arrive through Gate #2 beginning at 6:00 a.m. All spots are first come, first
served. No vehicles will be allowed through the gate after 9:00 a.m.
4. ALL CONTESTANTS MUST BE SEASON TICKET HOLDERS OR PAY REGULAR GATE
ADMISSION.
5. Meat may be pre-seasoned and marinated but must be raw.
6. All meat must be inspected by a committee member. You may begin cooking as soon as a
committee member gives you the ok.
7. CATEGORIES: 1. BEEF; 2. CHICKEN; 3. EXOTIC; 4. PORK; 5. RIBS
8. The first turn in time will be 2 p.m. with another turn in time each 20 minutes thereafter. Turn
in order will be Beef, Chicken, Exotic, Pork, Ribs.
9. JUDGING CRITERIA: Entries are judged according to Appearance, Taste, Texture, and
Tenderness.
10. PRIZES: Cash prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category. Sportsmanship
award is voted on by the contestants and is sponsored by the BBQ committee.
Showmanship is awarded to the contestant with the highest total presentation points and is
sponsored by the Lincoln County Fair Board.
Thank you to Dan and Phil Hechler of Hechler Hardware, Hearth, and Home for
sponsoring the Master Chef Award.
11. JACKPOT CLASSES: Cash entry fee of $10 per entry in the Jackpot Categories.
The categories are: 1. APPETIZER; 2. BRATWURST; 3. DESSERT
The first Jackpot turn in will be at noon and each 20 minutes thereafter.
Jackpot categories do not count toward Showmanship or Master Chef. Winner of each
category takes all of the pot for that category.

5. Re-pulls will only be allowed due to mechanical failure or correction of sled weight.
