Invitation for Doctoral Consortium Dilemmas for Humans Services 2015 Conference PhD students are invited to attend a Doctoral Consortium (DC), which takes place the 9th of September, one day prior to the main conference Dilemmas for Human Services 2015: Organizing, Designing and Managing to be held at Linnaeus University, Växjö, Sweden, see http://lnu.se/about-lnu/conferences/upcoming-conferences/dilemmas- 2015?l=en for the call. The consortium provides a supportive space for early career researchers to present their work and to engage in critical reflection and discussion of such. The DC, as well as the Dilemmas Conference, promotes the development of a supportive community of scholars, and a spirit of collaborative research to facilitate the meeting of both early career researchers and established researchers to share ideas that encourage critical engagement with academic texts and empirical research. The DC provides students with an opportunity to discuss issues of concern to them in their studies and receive extensive feedback from the session co-chairs and other student participants within and outside their own discipline and university. Enrolment is limited, 1015 students, and selection will be based on the quality of application submissions, taking into account how the research is related to this year’s call. The aim will be to include a spread of students with different disciplinary emphases, at different stages of study, and coming from different cultural backgrounds. Each doctoral student will present her work to the group with substantial time allocated for comments and discussion by session co-chairs and other student participants. The number of submissions is limited as indicated due to the likely demand for places and the limitations of space. An offer of acceptance into the Doctoral Consortium is accordingly conditional on a commitment from participants to engage in an open discussion of their research in a critical yet supportive, scholarly and collegial environment; the purpose being to aid reflection and progress. Application – Doctoral Consortium Proposal Doctoral students, who would like to participate in the consortium, are required to submit an A4-page proposal. The proposal should give an overview of the PhD project, including research motivations, questions, methods, status of their current work, any major findings and plans for further research. Those applicants whose proposals are accepted will be asked to provide a revised and elaborated research summary (4 pages) and to participate in the main conference. The proposal must be submitted not later than 27th of May, 2015 to the Doctoral Consortium Committee, see e-mail address below. Decisions on acceptance, following the refereeing process will be notified by 3rd June, 2015. At the Conference The Dilemmas Conference 2015 encourages doctoral students to participate in the conference, to interact with other researchers and be part of the conference events. All doctoral students 1 who participate in the Doctoral Consortium are accordingly considered to be full conference members and welcome to attend both days of the Dilemmas Conference 2015, including the Garden party on the first evening (9th of September 2015) and the Dinner on the second evening (10th of September 2015), as well as the visit to Glass district (11th of September 2015).
