Dear Lincoln Prairie Elementary School Families,
As we approach the final month of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to pass along a few reminders:
 Please remember that the immunization deadline is August 1, 2015. Additionally, any student entering sixth
grade needs to complete the health requirements by August 1, 2015. If you have questions about this, feel free
to contact the nurse at (847) 532-6611.
 As the weather becomes warmer, students will be outside for recess unless it is raining or dangerously hot.
Please ensure students are prepared for the change in the weather.
 Although our students are fantastic and extremely well-behaved, when the end of the year approaches and the
weather becomes warmer, students have the potential to make interesting choices – this is normal and is very
human. Please have conversations with your child(ren) about appropriate behaviors during the next few weeks.
This has been a wonderful year and we look forward to continuing to support your child(ren) as we approach the
summer months. Thank you, as always, for your continued support!
Enjoy your week!

Staff Appreciation Week 2015
This year we are honoring our staff with a fun-filled, Dr. Seuss themed week and we
have two opportunities for the kids to show our “whoo-tastic” staff how much we
appreciate them:
First, beginning Monday, May 4th, let’s bring
our teachers this and that, let’s help our
teachers fill a hat…with school supplies*, that
is. Things you might consider:




Thing 1 – Expo markers
Thing 2 – Glue Sticks
Thing 3 – Post-it notes
Thing 4 – whatever things you can think
*School supplies can be brought in any day
Second, since no flower is too small, please
have your child bring a single flower to school
on Wednesday, May 6th. The flowers will be
assembled and presented to the teacher as a
“Horton-sized” bouquet from the class.
If your child would like to recognize other
members of our staff, please have him/her
bring in an additional flower for that person.
Thank you for your help in celebrating our staff and teachers at Lincoln Prairie.

need at this hospital. We are asking you to donate gently loved books
(appropriate and in good shape) and drop them off in Mrs. Day and Mrs. Medina’s

Drum Dream Girl, Hardcover $17 _____
“Girls cannot be drummers." Long ago on an island filled with music, no one questioned that rule--until the drum
dream girl. In her city of drumbeats, she dreamed of pounding tall congas and tapping small bongOs. She had to
keep quiet. She had to practice in secret. But when at last her dream-bright music was heard, everyone sang and
danced and decided that "both" girls and boys should be free to drum and dream.
