Slope Project
DUE: Friday, April 24
Name: __________________
You need to find examples of slope in ‘the real world’ (outside of math class)
Slope as a “Steepness” Find a picture of an object that represents a slope.
On the picture, highlight the line that shows the slope.
You will need: two examples of positive steepness and two examples of negative steepness.
Slope as a Rate of Change Create a word problem that provides information about two different points. Use those
two points and the definition of slope to calculate the rate of change for your problem. Write a sentence that explains
the real world meaning of your slope (include units in your sentence!). Include a picture that illustrates some part of
your problem.
You will need: one example of positive rate of change and one example of negative rate of change.
Undefined and Zero Slope
You will need: one example of undefined slope and one example of zero slope. You may choose to use steepness or
rate of change for these examples. Follow the guidelines above based on your choice.
Final Product: You may create a poster, a PowerPoint, a Prezi, a video, etc. You may email it to
[email protected] or bring in a thumb drive with the file.
The project is a quiz grade and is due no later than Friday, April 24.
