A Warm Welcome
Established in 2003, London School of Science &
Technology (LSST) has grown to become one of London’s
leading independent, private higher education institutions,
which with 1000 students, makes LSST an exciting, diverse
and a multi-cultural place to learn.
In support of that diversity and to truly widen participation, many of the students that
choose to learn with us have said that they would not have had the confidence to apply to
a conventional University within the UK.
Simply put, our ethos at LSST is to provide education to all students, regardless of their
background and upbringing.
We know that with determination, effort and commitment that our students can get the
best out of studying with us.
We provide our students with a learning experience that is exciting, stimulating and
self-rewarding.
We achieve this by offering:
ƒƒ Courses and Modules that emphasize the use and development of analytical and
practical skills that are essential in today’s fast-moving and demanding work places.
ƒƒ A wide range of personal and academic support services that are designed to
ensure our students are given the support they need to succeed.
ƒƒ An excellent infrastructure and committed lecturers that make the learning
experience at LSST fulfilling and rewarding.
ƒƒ Study programs that are flexible and accommodate individuals of diverse ages,
cultures and socio-economic backgrounds.
I encourage you to visit us during one of our open days and hope to see you soon.
Warm regards
Syed Zaidi

About the College
The London School of Science & Technology (LSST)
has been serving its community by offering education
since 2004.
LSST has worked with prestigious UK and international higher education partners for nearly
ten years giving it a wealth of knowledge and experience. With past affiliations that include
for instance Greenwich University, LSST has been able to offer an exciting range of both
undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
As a result, we are able to offer students the opportunity to study higher education
qualifications which contain carefully structured teaching methods tailored to progress onto
higher level university programmes.
LSST is also accredited by both the British Accreditation Council (BAC) and the Quality
Assurance Agency (QAA), both of which regulate the standard levels for higher education.
In essence, LSST is here to make your career a success.
7
8
Coming to LSST
At LSST we like to think that we offer you something
different and distinctive – a quality education that won’t cost
you the earth.
Community Based
LSST can offer services to both students living within the school’s vicinity and those travelling
into the college community. So, whether you’re from the UK or have come here to study
from overseas, you will never be just another face in the crowd, but someone who will be
valued and respected as an individual.
Affordable
With many universities looking to charge £9,000 a year, our fees are significantly lower and
yet without compromising on the quality of your education.
Flexible
Modules are repeated several times each week, including Saturdays and some evenings. This
provides students the opportunity to study when it suits them best, rather than having to
organise everyday commitments around a constraining timetable.
Specialised
LSST offers only a small number of handpicked courses taught by lecturers who have both
academic and industry related experience. For prospective students who may not have
undertaken formal study for some time help is at hand. Our specialist lecturers provide faceto-face support for learners who need it, improving skills and confidence.
Supportive
Recognising that students often encounter a range of challenges throughout their studies,
LSST employ a dedicated team who actively help and support students, from enrolment
through to their graduation.
9
10
Learning From Experience
LSST offers practical classroom based teaching which is
taught by highly experienced lecturers and tutors.
Our academic staff combine sound business experience, academic theory and real-world
practicalities. Our academics are well-qualified in their particular disciplines with a real depth
of knowledge to pass on.
Unlike larger institutions our tutors intimately understand the specific needs of our students
and can therefore offer the personal and pastoral support as it is needed. For students who
require additional academic help lecturers run drop-in sessions at their discretion.
Although computers are used for much of the teaching, for those who need technological
support we offer Computer Starter Workshops to help you grasp the basics needed for
your studies.
Language support is available for individuals where English is not their first language and who
feel they need additional support.
Dependent on student interest, we also offer workshops designed to give you a deeper
understanding of your chosen industry while also preparing you for the workplace.
11
12
Living the Student Life
LSST is located within a thriving area of West London, just a
stone’s throw away from the buzzing city lights.
There are many opportunities to socialise with fellow students, participate in a range of
activities, and take advantage of all that’s right on your doorstep.
Transport
With both the Piccadilly and Central underground lines close by, there are also frequent bus
services in and around London. There is also road access to the A40 leading to the M40
and North Circular Road.
Restaurants
Whether you want a quick late-night takeaway or a restaurant meal, the multi-cultural
diversity of the area means you’ll find food and eating places to suit every taste and pocket.
Wembley Football Stadium
Famous throughout the world and our local landmark, whether you know the offside rule or
not!
Student Café
The Student Café is ideal if you just want to relax, have a quick snack, meet friends, play
table tennis or just watch TV.
Sport and social activities
As part of your studies at LSST you’ll be able to go to appropriate events and course
related visits, but also have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of social activities
and sports. 13

Teaching Staff
The Business department comprise a large qualified and experienced team of lecturers, all
of whom have recent industry experience in the subject they teach. Indeed, many of our
lecturers our current practitioners who have their own businesses and as such, can bring a
practical, hands on approach to the lectures. This ensures that the lectures are based on
real world interpretations of the theories and the concepts taught in the class, making the
learning transition from the classroom to the working environment more advantageous.
Lectures and Tutorials
Designed to meet the learning needs of our learners, all of our modules are delivered
through a combination of lectures and tutorials. Using this approach enables LSST to
provide additional support where and when it is most needed, with tutorials provided to
reinforce the learning that takes place in the lectures, and to assist the learner in applying
concepts.
Assessment
All of our assessment papers are written and designed by our lecturers and are based on
real-world challenges. This means that lecturers are fully aware of the areas that need to
be explored in the lectures and in the tutorials. The lectures are skilled and experienced in
providing professional support to the learner whilst helping them to achieve an independent
approach to learning.
18
Student Notes and Materials
All materials are produced in-house and tailored to the needs and learning styles of the
LSST student. All lecturers produce their own notes which aim to meet the learning
outcomes stipulated by the awarding body, Edexcel, and the individual learning needs of the
classes they teach.
These lecture notes and supporting materials are available on the student portal as soon
as the lectures are delivered and function to support the student through their learning
journey.

Learning takes place through lectures and tutorials however our main goal is to deliver a
project-based learning experience. This environment promotes creativity and self-learning,
and better prepares students for the real-world by developing skills that are valued both
by employers and academic staff (e.g., presentation skills, a portfolio of projects, etc.). The
theory needed to match the requirements of the project is delivered in lectures using a
variety of techniques to ensure that all of our learners can meet the requirements of the
project. The tutorial sessions are designed to give our learners the opportunity to ensure
that they are up to date with the project and that it will be delivered on time.
Assessment
Our learners undertake sixteen modules over two years in order to be successfully
awarded the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Computer and Systems Development. All
assessment is via two written assignments per module. Learners are required to achieve a
pass mark in four units to progress from the first year to the second. All assessment papers
