ANSWER TO QUESTION: As a resident of New Hope Borough for several decades and now running for Constable, I feel the need for a mechanism for more supervision in this position. Right now Constables have no accountability. Some ideas would require them to fall under the supervision of District Justices. Constables serve warrants and civil papers but are only accountable to voters every six years. Other law enforcement agencies are scrutinized and have a system of oversight, why not Constables?
