Meets 5:45 to 6:15 pm at Boomerang Hotel, Nebo Road
President’s Message
Grant Craig provided an excellent fill-in as guest speaker last week. The adventures
that he and Leah embark on overseas certainly take them to some out of the way
places.
It was disappointing to announce that long serving member Barry Ingham had submitted his resignation from the Club. We wish him and Marilyn all the very best for
the future.
Gary CK Huang
Pres. R.I.
On a positive note it was my pleasure to induct Kevin Heazlett at the meeting and
welcome him, Kimberly and family into Mackay West Rotary. Also George Nikolsky
has been accepted for membership and will be inducted as soon as possible. Secretary Des has had contact through our website from another potential member who
has recently returned to Mackay from Victoria. He was a member of Rotary and is
interested in re-joining. Des has invited him to come to our next meeting at the
Boomerang.
John Palmer
Pres. Mackay West
We wish Garn Woodman a speedy recovery from his mishap with his quad bike. He
is back at home after a stint in the base hospital nursing some broken ribs and severe bruising.
I attended the annual general meeting of the Mackay Ladies Probus Club on Monday morning. I was pleased to continue the bond between the Probus Club and
our Club and had the pleasure of conducting the election of officers for their Club
for the coming year.
Elsewhere in the Bulletin, I have included some notes from our Board meeting last
week and from the Group 1 President’s meeting on 19 March.
This week we are visiting the Blue River Ice Factory at 51 Enterprise Street, Paget.
We are joining with Mackay Club for this vocational visit which will commence at
6.15pm.
The District 9570 Conference is on 01 to 03 May in Hervey Bay. It would be nice to
have a good contingent from Mackay West at the conference so please get your
registration in as soon as possible if you are proposing to attend.
John

DG 9570
I hope you got your new name badge from your member after the meeting last
week. I still have a few to pass on but not this week as it is a vocational visit.
Have a Happy Easter whether you are home or away. I will be away in Brisbane
for Easter with the Mackay Choral Society (including our accompanist Judith
Brown).

District Conference Keynote Speaker
Good Morning All,
IMPORTANT EXCITING NEWS
I am extremely delighted to announce that I have secured the extraordinary motivational speaker Tom O’Toole, the famous Beechworth Baker, to perform at the conference on Saturday 2nd May. We also will have the 11 year old Mac Millar on Saturday, so you
will get to hear Australia’s top rating speaker and a future star on the same program. How about that!! The wonderful Interplast Plastic
Surgeon, Dr Allan Meares will also speak during this session of the conference.
Attached is an information sheet on Tom O’Toole and also the latest District Conference Highlights Edition No 3.
District Conference Chair PP Pam Gregory has also forwarded the comprehensive social and leisure activities organised for Saturday
afternoon. And don’t forget about the DG Banquet on Saturday evening at the fabulous new Beach House Hotel at Scarness. This will
be a great night with some special entertainment and fellowship.
Would Club Secretaries please circulate this email to all members and Bulletin Editors?
Many thanks,
DG Craig.
