Learn why licensing
your dog or cat in
Milwaukee County is
the best deal in town!
By choosing to license your pet you are
partnering with Milwaukee Area
Domestic Animal Control Commission
(MADACC) as we all work together to
ensure animals find their fastest route
home.
Why get a license?
License tags for dogs and cats work the
same as a driver’s license works for the
rest of us. Each tag corresponds with
your contact information that we keep
on file and provide to MADACC Animal
Control Officers or local law
enforcement if we find your dog or cat
when it is away from home without you.
This allows us to reach you and reunite
you with your lost pet within minutes of
finding them!
License tags also provide proof that
your best friend is vaccinated against
rabies, which means they are in compliance with state law. Should your animal
ever get into a situation where they
need to be quarantined because of a
bite to a person, proof of an up-to-date
vaccine may make your animal eligible
for an in-home quarantine instead of
being held in our facility for the state
mandated 10-day quarantine period.
Membership has its privileges!
In Milwaukee County, if your animal is found wearing a current license tag, it is part
of an exclusive club! Licensed animals in Milwaukee County are eligible for the
following benefits:
FAST TRACK!
Found animals with current license information can be quickly reunited with their
families or if severely injured rushed to the veterinarian of your choosing (within
Milwaukee County and within a reasonable radius from where animal is found)
where you can meet your animal and discuss care with medical professionals.
FREE RIDE HOME!
The first time your licensed pet is picked up or brought to MADACC, it will receive
a free ride or free pass to go home eliminating its stay or even skipping a trip to
MADACC altogether!
FREE SPAY/NEUTER OPPORTUNITIES!
MADACC offers owners of cats and Pit Bull terriers/Pit Bull terrier mix dogs a
free spay or neuter surgery when you come to pick up your companion should
