Guzanov Alexey was born in 1959. Since 1984 Alexey has been working at the State Museum-Reserve “Pavlovsk”: at first as a technician and then the head of exposition department, in 1992 he was appointed a chief
curator of the State Museum “Pavlovsk”. Guzanov Alexey is a honored worker of culture of the Russian Federation.
In 1987 he graduated from the Zhdanov Leningrad State University, Department of Art History.
For many years Guzanov is involved in a major collecting process done at the museum. He leads the restoration of museum objects, work of Restoration Council, and also deals with exhibition activities of the museum.
A.N. Guzanov is one of the initiators of implementing computer automated museum information system
(CAMIS), which has been introduced in the scientific department since 1998. State Museum “Pavlovsk” is one
of the first museums in St. Petersburg, where this system began to use.
Alexey Guzanov is a member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists, the International Association of Museums ICOM, European Academy of Museums (European Museum Academy). He’s been also a member of the
expert commission on the purchase of art works and objects of cultural and historical heritage of the Committee for Culture since 2002.
Guzanov A.N. was invited to make a speech in New York Dole Gallery, Washington Hillwood museum and
Gardens. In 2002 he finished course of Royal collection Study London.
Under his direction in collaboration with a team of curators was created a catalog “Cultural property stolen
and lost during the Second World War. Pavlovsk Palace”. Currently he’s actively working on creating a complete catalog of the collection of Pavlovsk Palace Museum. Guzanov is the author of many exhibitions including abroad. He’s an author of numerous publications in the catalogs and periodicals. Alexey Guzanov actively
cooperates with the students, and teach young professionals on refresher courses. He is also a senior lecturer
at St. Petersburg State University (Department of Russian Art).
