22-3-15 Sunday 22nd March saw 9 boats with 34 lady anglers out in the Manukau harbour vying for top lady angler. Though the weather played the game, unfortunately there was a huge tide, which made for some interesting sinker selections ! With the weigh in expiring at 4:30 pm, all the boats arrived back at the clubs ramp on time and every one replaced lost fluids with new ones in the clubhouse while awaiting the results. There were lots of “spot” prizes dished out, the early bird bird ( ! ) was selected and then it was into the announcement of the winners. The rules stated that there were prizes for the heaviest Snapper, and heaviest Kahawai, and also for the angler who’s fish weighed in closest to the overall average of all fish weighed. Though there were other species of fish weighed in, they were only included in the calculations for the average weight. There were however some notable fish caught in the “other” species - Tanya (on Hot Rods) who weighed in a 1.56Kg Trevally, and Beth Laws also weighed in a legal 7.56Kg Kingfish. Morgan (on Barry James) weighed in a rather decent 1.12 Kg Gurnard. In all, there were 51 fish weighed in, for a total weight of 60.04 Kg, the average weight being 1.18Kg Liz took out the Snapper prize with a 1.86 Kg fish Liz took out the Snapper prize with a 1.86 Kg fish MORE Lucinda collects the Kahawai prizes for a 1.92 kg catch Morgan picked up the Average weight prize with a 1.12 kg Snapper MORE The skippers also collected some bubbly The Weighmaster was busy with snapper, Trevally Kahawai, gurnard and kingfish The Competition was rounded off with nibbles served from our kitchen, thanks to Jocelyn and her assistants.
