Qualifications
N.C.C.P. Coaching Certification Requirements
All Minor teams registering for a Provincial Championship that does not lead to a Western
Canadian or Canadian require a minimum of one coach who has completed the Community
Softball Coach Clinic OR Softball Competition Introduction weekend 1 and weekend 2 OR
have a complete Softball Level 1 Coaching Certificate (Technical + Practical + Introduction
to Competition Part A) and must be present at the Provincial Championship and on the
bench.
All teams registering for a Provincial Championship that leads to a
Western Canadian or Canadian Championship require a minimum of one (1) Coach to be
fully certified Competition Introduction (All three weekends) and the Making Ethical
Decisions (MED) online exam or have a complete Softball Level II Coaching Certificate
(Technical + Practical + Introduction to Competition Part A & B) and must be present at
the Provincial Championship and on the bench. Exception: Master teams require one coach
who has completed the Community Softball Clinic or Level 1 N.C.C.P. Coaching Certificate
(Technical + Practical + Introduction to Competition Part A).
Respect in Sport
Softball Saskatchewan is committed to creating a sport environment in which all
individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Coaches have a responsibility to create a
sporting environment that is free from harassment, abuse, bullying and neglect. Softball
Saskatchewan now requires that all coaches participating in the sport of softball have
completed the online Respect in Sport (RiS) certification (or equivalency), as required by

Practice Times
For the month of April, Martensville Amateur Softball Association will provide up to 4 paid
practice times at the MAP for . To arrange your team’s practice time at the MAP, contact

Practice times on diamonds in Martensville will have to be determined at a later date
depending on weather and diamond availability.

Brian MacPherson Softball Excellence Award
Martensville Amateur Softball Association (MASA) proudly presents the
Brian Macpherson Softball Excellence Award yearly to two MASA registered players. Brian
passed away tragically in March 2014. Brian was President of MASA from its inception.
Brian loved softball and the Association shares this award with softball players who
represent the qualities in Brian:
Attitude ~ positive attitude
Team Focus ~ unselfish & committed to the team over individual performance & willing to
help out in any way that benefits the team and its members
Role Model~ positive role model for players both on the team & within the
community
Sportsmanship ~ display good sportsmanship, respect to officials, opposing teams, coaches,
parents, teammates & demonstrates cooperation
Integrity ~ be committed to doing what's right
Work Ethic ~ display a strong work ethic
MASA will award two registered MASA players each softball season. The inaugural year
awards have been awarded to his daughters: Jordan and Jessi.
The awards will consist of a printed certificate and a cheque for $100 each to be used to
further the player’s softball skills. The players must submit proof to MASA executive that
they have registered for an excellence camp, skills clinic or another training course in
softball.
Beginning in 2015, Coaches from each division/team will nominate one player by
completing a nomination form found at www.martensvillesoftball.ca Nominations must be in
by May 31st to Cara Zukewich, Secretary, MASA at 421 3rd Street South, Martensville or
[email protected] Nominations must only be for players on your team that are
registered through Martensville Softball Association.
The MASA executive members will review the nominations and vote on two recipients by
the end of May. Awards will be presented in June.
