Mason Public Schools
Enrichment Classes for Adults and Children
One of the best things about Michigan is SUMMER! We are so fortunate to
experience four wonderful seasons in this great state but for me, there is
nothing like summer in Michigan! I love all the water experiences you can find
in Michigan but I have discovered over the years how many people do not
understand drownings. The first thing you need to know about a drowning is, a
drowning is usually a quiet thing. Most drowning victims under the age of 2 do
not yell out, wave their hands, thrash around, or attempt to swim to safety.
They simply go under water quietly and stay motionless. It takes a matter of
seconds for a child to fall into the water and rarely are these children victims of
neglectful parenting. Death by drowning strikes families of every race,
economic group, and level of education. Drowning is the number one cause of
death in children 4 and under. The best way to protect your family is through a
watchful eye, water education, prevention, water safety vests if the child
cannot swim while around water and of course being in the water with your
child. We are proud to offer the American Red Cross Learn to Swim Program at
Mason, we continue to educate and train our Lifeguards to the highest
standards possible to protect everyone who use our pool. I encourage you to
enroll your child in swim lessons this summer and for more information
regarding swim lessons, please go to our new online web store for Swim
Lesson Level information and to register online. Have a great, safe summer!

Swim Lessons
Level 1 - 4 Learn to Swim Classes are designed to teach students how to
swim and to be safe in, on, and around water. We want class time to be
effective and rewarding for each swimmer, so if you have any special
concerns or you are not sure what level to enroll your child in, please
speak with Mary Kay at the community education office when
enrolling.
This class is designed to help students who have at least passed L4 and
would like to advance to the Bullfrog Program. You will be working on
refining your stroke with greater efficiency and effectiveness over
longer distances.
