**** Best Bets # 8 Wolf Man Rocket (Race 10) #6 American Pharoah (Race 11) #5 Cashleigh (Race 12) Race 1 1m DD, Ex, Tri, Super #1 QUALITY COUNCIL (4-‐1) won off the claim by the red hot Hartman barn. The improvement was dramatic and places this one as much the best with a repeat effort. The added distance should be no problem for this son of Elusive Quality. #6 WINKATDAWAT (3-‐1) has steadily improved and is strictly the one to catch. #7 INDIAN COMPANION (15-‐1) is a first off the claim from the Mike Rone barn. He wins at 45% right back. #5 BEWARE THE TIGER (5-‐1) is also fresh off the claim by Bret Calhoun. This 8yo seemed to be moving in the right direction and the new barn should have him sharp. BOMB In each race we try to find a long shot with some chance. In race 1 we are selecting #7 Indian Companion (15-‐1). See above remarks. Race 2 6f Ex, Tri, Super, P3, P4 st
#2 WINE TRAIN (8-‐1) is a well bred 1 time starter from Danny Peitz. Danny does not usually have them wound tight first out but this filly is bred top and bottom to win at 1st asking and is out of stakes winning mare. Lots of 5f works to have this one ready to go. #9 TOWN SURPRISE (8-‐1) is another first time starter and is from the Morris Nicks’ barn. Nicks used to run at OP and was a personal favorite of mine. He ships this Louisiana bred in for this one race on the last day. (His only starter this year at OP.) He is too knowledgeable to be wasting his time on one that can’t run. Strong play in here. 1 4/10/15 #4 WORLD ELITE (3-‐1) looked very strong in his first race but disappointed in his next out. He has been given a month off and shows a nice work on March 28. #3 MANILLE (5-‐2) showed marked improvement in his last out. Mac Robertson stable has been heating up and this filly should be razor sharp for his 3rd out. BOMB #9 TOWN SURPRISE (8-‐1) See above remarks. Race 3 1m Ex, Tri, Super, P3, P6 #1 GOOD TIMES RAMBLES (12-‐1) was a $340,000 purchase but just won a $20,000 maiden claimer. Obviously not what was expected but this 4yo gelding won off a 9 month layoff in a very good effort. He is stretching out to much better distance for him. The Lieblong’s would love to be in the winner’s circle on Derby Day. #8 SERGIO’S PRIDE (8-‐1) has been running against stronger fields but it has been on the turf. Nothing in his pedigree says he can’t run on the dirt. He was claimed by Margolis who wins at 33% off the claim. #4 MOON GUN (12-‐1) was just claimed by Karl Broberg whose barn is coming alive. This horse could show marked improvement and would not be a surprise to take the top spot. #7 DELIVERANCE DAY (6-‐1) is getting better with every race. This gelding has a big shot in this evenly matched field. BOMB #4 MOON GUN (12-‐1) See above. Race 4 1m Ex, Tri, Super, P3 #8 STORM DEVIL (9-‐2) showed tremendous improvement in his last race after going to the Chris Hartman barn. Although it was a 6f race, I think he is sharp enough to handle the added distance. #7 COPSE (4-‐1) has run 2 excellent races at OP with his only bad performance in the slop against a very strong field. #6 CAT’S DESTINY (3-‐1) is a model of consistency and should be right there at the end. BOMB #9 REAL POWER (20-‐1) was claimed by Paul Holtus out of his last. He has been mostly a turf horse but when given the chance has performed well on the dirt. 2 4/10/15 Race 5 6f Ex, Tri, Super, P3 #2 ROLL TIDE ROLL (7-‐2) is a first time starter from the Wayne Catalano barn and appears ready to roll. $250,000 purchase with a mare who has 5 winners from 5 starters and 2 stakes winners. Workouts are dynamite. #8 SHARM (5-‐1) has been a late bloomer and appears super sharp. Vazqeuz has been picking up mounts from the Lukas barn and the horses have been responding with improved performances. #7 FIRST SPLASH (6-‐1) should run a big race today in his 3rd start. Problems in his last probable kept him from having an improved performance over his debut. # 10 DOODLE HOPPER (9-‐2) ran a much improved race last out and has the ability to win this with a good trip. BOMB #12 MR PIPPINS (8-‐1) did not break well in his debut but showed ability. A better trip and this gelding could upset at a price. Race 6 1m 1/16 Ex, Tri, Super, P3 #7 LASTING IMPACT (9-‐2) lost by a nose to Noble Bird who won a feature race at Keeneland this week. Sharp and ready to run. #3 RANKHASPRIVLEGES (12-‐1) This gelding has a lot of ability but needs pace to run at. I think he needed his last race and if the pace is fast, he will mow them down through the stretch. #6 SHEIKINATOR (12-‐1) is another closer that was claimed from the McPeek barn. Asmussen has him in an easier spot and that may be all he needs. #11 VOODOO STORM (9-‐2) ran big in his last and could be right there at the end. In for a tag is a bit of a concern. BOMB #3 See above. Race 7 1m 1/8 Ex, Tri, Super, P3, P4 #1 RACE DAY (5-‐2) is the favorite and deserves to be. He should be able to set his own pace which will make it hard to pass him in the stretch. #4 CARVE (5-‐1) is going to be setting just off the pace and should have the first shot at Race Day. I expect Carve to rebound from his poor effort in the Razorback. #3 TAPITURE (9-‐2) ran a dull race after a 4 month layoff. He should bounce back from that performance with the additional conditioning and a dry race track. 3 4/10/15 BOMB #7 HARD ACES did not run well last out but has the ability to put it all together and close with a rush. Race 8 6f Ex, Tri, Super, P3, P4 #3 INDIAN BRAVA (5-‐2) is a rising star going for 3 in a row. She is sitting a great spot and I expect her to run a big race. # INDIAN ANNIE ((6-‐1) is cutting back in distance. I expect her to lay back and make a big run at the end of this. I wanted to pick her to win just on a hunch but stuck with the 3. An INDIAN EXACTA would not surprise me. #5 PROMISE ME SILVER (6-‐5) is undefeated in 6 starts. She is hard trying filly but is facing the toughest of her career. BOMB #1 CALYSO RUN (15-‐1) ran 2 excellent sprint races to begin her career but has stretched out the last 2. This filly is very fit and could make it interesting while cutting back. Race 9 1m 1-‐16 Ex, Tri, Super, P3, P4 #9 WEST VILLAGE (7-‐2) ran a big race in his debut going a mile in the off going. Bred to run all day and with the services of Johnny V, I think he is a standout. #12 KENJIISLUCKY (6-‐1) really improved in her second out performance. He is bred to like the added distance but needs a good trip from the 12 hole to best the top pick. #8 HOTTAP (9-‐2) is always right there but can’t seem to get there first. Needs to move forward just a bit to take this one down. BOMB #6 INSPIRE COURAGE (10-‐1) is a first time starter from the McPeek barn. He does exceptionally well with horses who race a route first out. Out of a stakes winning mare and bred to run all day. Race 10 1m Ex, Tri Super, P3 #8 WOLF MAN ROCKET (4-‐1) is still a maiden but a very talented one. His numbers suggests he is the best and I believe the numbers. #3 HILLBILLY ROYALTY (5-‐2) is a very talented colt who was little over his head last out. This a better spot for him to notch his first stakes win. #7 POSEIDEN’S WAY (9-‐2) is another talented colt from Donnie K Von Hemel’s barn. He has a big shot here to if either of the top two don’t run their best. 4 4/10/15 #6 Holiday Man (7-‐2) is every bit as talented as the 3 and 7 but is a bit inconsistent. BOMB #2 HILLBILLY STYLE (15-‐1) improved dramatically last out. With that performance, he could be competitive with this field. Race 11 1m 1/8 DD, Ex, Tri, Super #6 AMERICAN PHAROAH (1-‐2) It is hard to look at anything else in here. If he wins this race as impressively as the numbers suggest, he will be the favorite in the Kentucky Derby. #8 WIN THE SPACE (30-‐1) Although a maiden, this horse looks clearly 2nd best in here. I realize he has little experience, has not run 2 turns, and has a non-‐descript trainer but…. It might be that he is short at this distance but I think it is worth a shot to make him the place horse. #5 BOLD CONQUEST (20-‐1) Improved in his last start and had a little trouble. If he moves forward more, he can compete for the minor awards. #4 MADEFROMLUCKY (6-‐1) ran a game 2nd to American Pharoah last out but I think he will prefer the dry track and may run a better race. Unfortunately, it probably won’t matter. BOMB #8 See above. Race 12 1m ¾ Ex, Tri, Super #5 CASHLEIGH (10-‐1) comes in from Delta Downs having finished first or second in 9 of his last 10 races. Although he has never run this far (most haven’t), he has always been right there at any distance. He is super sharp right now and I give him the nod at 10-‐1. #8 BARAT (2-‐1) is another shipper. He is the likely favorite off his 10 length win last out at a mile and half. He loves long races and deserves to be the favorite. #5 PERFECTLY AT HOME (12-‐1) was just claimed by Karl Broberg who is fantastic winning off the claim. He very well may have claimed this horse for this race because of his pedigree. Good shot at the win. #4 PRECIPICE TRAIL (6-‐1) is another horse bred to run long and has won at this distance. He is in an improving form cycle and has the best distance jockey in the race. BOMB 5 #5 PERFECTLY AT HOME (12-‐1) 4/10/15
