Maynooth Campus Conference & Accommodation, the department charged with management
of conference business for Maynooth University and St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, seeks to
employ four receptionists on a temporary, full-time basis for the summer 2015 conference season.
The ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong awareness of customer service values, with particular
attention given to ensuring our guests enjoy their stay on the university campus at Maynooth.
Experience in dealing with the public in a customer service environment is essential. An ability to work
as part of a team and to perform well under pressure is vital. As the receptionist on duty is the public
face of Maynooth Campus for the guest it is essential that an image of friendliness, efficiency and
attentiveness is portrayed at all times. In the course of a typical day, each receptionist will be expected
to carry out the following duties:








Create and amend bookings
Process guest stays, including check-in, check-out, encode key cards and payment
Ensure guest records are properly and promptly maintained
Resolve any issues arising during a guest’s stay
Deal with guest enquiries, including provision of tourist information
Liaise with event organisers and group representatives
Liaise with management, south campus reception staff and housekeeping staff
Liaise with departments supporting the conference operation, including Security, Health & Safety,
Power House and Catering
The successful candidates will be expected to familiarize themselves quickly with our reservations
system, with all communication systems and with procedures in place to ensure that business is
conducted efficiently and properly.
Dress is smart casual or business. Blouse and smart trousers or skirt for females; shirt and smart
trousers for males. No jeans or t-shirts. Smart footwear is required, e..g, no trainers, flip-flops, etc.
Reception opens at 08:30 and closes at 23:00. It closes for lunch from 12:00 to 13:00 and for an evening
break from 19:30 to 20:00. The reception service runs seven days a week, with two daily shifts. The
morning shift is from 08:30 to16:00 and the evening shift from 16:00 to 23:00. There is a four-person
team on the roster. All receptionists are rostered to work two weekends in every three. Every week
there are two contiguous days off.
All receptionists will live on-campus. Accommodation is provided free of charge as a quid pro quo for
rostered on-call duty from 23:00 to 01:00 each night.
The period of employment is from Monday, 8 June to Sunday, 6 September 2015 inclusive. Several days
of training will take place in the week prior to commencement. Candidates must be available to work
for the full period. The weekly salary, based on a 30.5-hour week, is €320.00 pro-rata.
