Dan Holohan to Offer Final Classes Through MCA Chicago’s CEI
The Award-Winning Speaker and Technical Writer Is Set to Retire His Popular Steam Heating
and Hydronics Seminars
Burr Ridge, Ill. – Dan Holohan, a nationally recognized speaker and prolific technical author, will offer his
long-running seminars on steam heating and hydronic systems for the last time through the Mechanical
Contractors Association of Chicago’s Construction Education Institute® (CEI). The seminars—which will
run the evenings of April 22 and April 23 at the Local 597 Training Center in Mokena, Ill.—will cover both
technical and social topics, ranging from the history of steam heating to current practices in piping and
radiant heating.
An institution in the mechanical construction and piping industries, Holohan’s career in hydronics spans
more than four decades, stemming from his early days working with his father as a New York-based
manufacturers’ representative. He began lecturing on the topic 25 years ago upon the publication of his
encyclopedic first book, The Lost Art of Steam Heating, in 1992. He continues to write and publish
widely, having written 14 additional books, as well as numerous articles, blogs, and columns in dozens of
industry publications, including on his own website, HeatingHelp.com.
Holohan offers these popular seminars—respectively titled Hydronic Night School and Dead Men Steam
School—on a limited basis nationwide. The classes have proven popular among various audiences over
the years, earning him several awards for his keen ability to translate technical jargon into clear and
straightforward language. Last year, the OESP awarded him a Certificate of Recognition for his
commitment to teaching and fundraising, and recognized an annual scholarship in his name.

Holohan has lectured at MCA’s Construction Education Institute since its inception in 1997. He will
continue to give seminars at other select locations on a limited basis through 2015, and plans on retiring
his seminars completely by early 2016.
