A Goldwater Scholar, he graduated with honors in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University. Thereafter, he studied in the PhD program for physics at Cornell University before earning a JD from Harvard Law School. A member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and Mensa, he has written, broadcast, presented, and taught around the country on topics ranging from string theory to the doctrine of constitutional separation of powers. Janine Arvizu - Janine Arvizu is president of Consolidated Technical Services, Inc. in Albuquerque, NM. She was formerly manager of a Department of Energy analytical laboratory. She is a chemist (B.S. Biochemistry, ABD Chemistry) and quality consultant. A Certified Quality Auditor, she has managed a nationwide laboratory evaluation program for a federal agency, and performed dozens of independent audits of laboratories. Tim Bussey- Admitted to the bar in 1991, Timothy Bussey is an experienced Colorado Springs criminal defense lawyer. During more than two decades in practice, Mr. Bussey has served in positions including prosecutor in El Paso and Teller Counties, active-duty Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force, and special assistant attorney general for the State of Colorado. Mr. Bussey was chosen as one of the best attorneys in the city in the field of DUI Law by his colleagues in the El Paso County Bar Association. Renowned for his groundbreaking work in trial tactics and techniques, Mr. Bussey recently garnered acclaim for exposing inaccuracies in the blood alcohol test rests provided by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Crime Laboratory. He made a similar discovery at the Colorado Springs Metro Forensic Laboratory that would become a key component in the U.S. Supreme Court's final decision in Bullcoming v. New Mexico, 131 S. Ct. 2705 in 2011. Bob LaPier-Robert F. La Pier has 21 years of progressive responsible law enforcement experience. With over six years as Field Commander, Robert has fulfilled the requirements needed to receive the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate. He was certified by Idaho Peace Officers Standards and Training as an Instructor in the following Police testing programs: D.U.I. Detection and Apprehension; Drugs that Impair Driving; Standardized Field Sobriety Testing; Intoximeter Instrument Certification; Emergency Vehicle Operation; Idaho State Police Lead D.U.I.Instructor. He has been qualified as an Instructor Recognized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as a Qualified Instructor in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Procedures. And completed classroom training as a Drug Recognition Expert. Fran Gengo - Dr. Gengo serves as Director of Neuropharmacology and the Research Director for the Acute Stroke Treatment Program at DENT, as well as the the Chief Science Officer for DENT's research affiliate, DNRC. He is currently involved in several protocols of thrombolytics and neuroprotective agents. In addition, he is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy and Neurology and a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery at the SUNY at Buffalo School of Medicine. Dr. Gengo has published numerous papers on the effects of various drugs on the central nervous system and his research entails abstraction and statistical analysis of data acquired from several modalities. Dr. Gengo testified as an expert for the defendants in the two major DRE cases in Maryland – Brightful et.al. in Carroll County, and Crampton in Montgomery County.
