METROPOLITAN DENVER HOMELESS INITIATIVE VOL. 1, ISSUE A quarterly newsletter brought to you by MDHI 3 THIRD QUARTER 2014 The mission of Metropolitan Denver Homeless Initiative (MDHI) is to implement a comprehensive homeless housing and service continuum of care (CoC) system in the seven county metropolitan region . Highlights AmeriCorps VISTA Leader and five VISTA Members recruited to assist with Coordinated Assessment and Housing Placement System, as well as local and regional initiatives Welcome new Board members: Maryjane Carr, Glen Carney, Alejandro Martinez Received Enterprise Grant of $50,000 to assist with regional housing needs Brothers Redevelopment will work with MDHI to develop a regional landlord recruitment campaign Employer Forum currently being planned for Fall 2014 HMIS Rapid-entry pilot project with local day centers using scan cards underway New MDHI Location MDHI has moved into Mile High United Way building at 711 Park Avenue West, Suite 320 Denver, Colorado 80205 303-295-1772 25 Cities Update / Coordinated Assessment The Denver Metro area is participating in the 25 Cities initiative to: Build regional coordinated assessment and housing placement system Strengthen and integrate data systems Integrate efforts more seamlessly into broader community efforts Initiative Highlights include: Conducted needs assessments of over 400 individuals The team is working to streamline the process for involved agencies and the individuals they are serving by decreasing follow up interactions and paperwork Partner agencies have submitted over 20 vouchers/housing units for high needs individuals Over 20 high needs individuals have been matched with potential housing. The local Community Design Team is developing policies and procedures which incorporate recently released HUD guidance on prioritization of housing for high needs individuals Find out more at our website: www.mdhi.org Annual Continuum of Care Meeting October 14th from 1:30—4:30 @ Mile High United Way, 711 Park Avenue West The Continuum of Care meeting will be an opportunity for stakeholders to learn more about the work at MDHI and priorities for 2015.
