FSU med students visit Shands Live Oak RMC Suwannee Democrat: News FSU med students visit Shands Live Oak RMC Submitted | Posted: Tuesday, June 9, 2015 3:00 pm On Friday, May 29, Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center hosted the first ever “Presentation of Rural Medicine” to over 30 Florida State University med students. These students were informed about the benefits of working in a rural area, how their daily job criteria touches a community, and the differences between an urban setting in comparison with a rural setting. FSU med students tudents broke up into groups, and in classroom style, Shands Live Oak Regional Medical Center S were able to have a direct conversation with their CEO Richard Huth talks with FSU med assigned physician. Shands Live Oak RMC physicians students. who participated in this event were Dr. Ed Moore, Emergency Medicine Expert and Chief Medical Director; Dr. Jan Gurney, Family Practitioner; Dr. Malik Naqi, Internal Medicine Hospitalist and Chief Medical Officer; Dr. Chris Staudinger, General Surgeon and Chief of Surgery. This group was led by Kenneth BrummelSmith MD, Charlotte Edwards Maguire Professor and Chair, Department of Geriatrics, Florida State University College of Medicine. After meeting with their individual doctors, these groups convened to discuss with the entire group what they learned from their physician.
