When an overheat temperature is reached, the heater will automatically shut off. Operation can only resume when the unit is reset. (See instructions below) To Reset Heater: Unplug the heater and wait 10 minutes for the unit to cool down. Read all instructions before using this appliance. This appliance is hot when in use. To avoid burns, don’t let bare skin touch hot surfaces. The grill at the bottom of this heater in particular will become hot when the heater is active. Keep combustible materials such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains etc., at least 3 feet (0.9m) away from the front of the appliance. Keep all items away from the sides and back of the appliance and take special care not to block the air intake or exhaust vents. Use handle when moving this heater. Extreme caution is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended. Always unplug this appliance when not in use Do not operate the appliance if the power cord or plug has been damaged or the heater has been damaged or malfunctioned in any way. Take the appliance to authorized service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment or repair. Do not use outdoors. Do not use the appliance in bathrooms, laundry areas and similar indoor locations. Never locate the appliance where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container. Do not run the power cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throws, rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Do not route cord under furniture or applicances. Take care to position the cord away from high traffic areas and such that it cannot be tripped over. To disconnect the appliance, turn all controls “OFF”, then remove the plug from the outlet. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). This plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the plug in any way. Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the appliance. To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces like a bed, where openings may become blocked. A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored. Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap. Do not attempt to burn wood or other materials in this heater. When transporting or storing the heater, take care to keep both the unit and power cord/plug dry, free from excessive vibration, and away from heat sources. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR FUTURE USE MAINTENANCE Warning: Warning Before attempting to perform any maintenance on this appliance, turn all controls to the “OFF” position and unplug. Allow the appliance to be “OFF” for at least 10 minutes before performing any maintenance in order to allow all components to cool properly. REPLACING LIGHT BULBS: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Ensure that all controls are “OFF”, the appliance is unplugged, and bulbs are cool to the touch. Wear latex gloves to ensure that grease/oil from your hands does not transfer to the bulbs. Remove back panel to access light bulbs.(see Fig B) Remove the burnt out light bulb and replace with a new bulb. Hand-tighten the bulbs only--do not over tighten. Replace back panel and screws.(see Fig B) Warning: Do not exceed the recommended bulb wattage. Use only 120V, 40W, E12 chandelier light bulb, Candelabra Base. The lamp holder is model E12. CLEANING 1. 2. To remove dust from glass window, use clean dry cloth. To remove fingerprints or other marks from glass window, use clean damp cloth. Do not spray glass cleaner or other liquids directly onto the window. Clean metal surfaces with a clean damp cloth making sure not to push dust or debris into any air intake or exhaust vents. Do not use abrasive cleaners or spray liquids on any part of the appliance. 3. 4. NOTE: 1. When you first turn the heater on, it may emit a slight but harmless odor. This odor results from certain oils or greases being heated as the appliance is used for the first time. This odor is not harmful, and should not reoccur after the first operation of the appliance. FLAME EFFECT 1. Push the I/O button to downward/“ON” position” to turn on the flame effect. Return button upward to turn off the flame effect. (see Fig A) HEAT SETTING 1. 2. Push the I/O button to the downward/“ON” position then the I button to the downward/“ON” position to activate the low heater setting. Returning the I button to the upward/“OFF” position will turn heater off, but flame effect will still be illuminated. (see Fig A) To activate the high heat function, push the I/O button to the downward/“ON” position then the I button to the downward/“ON” position, then the II button to the downward/“ON” position. Returning the II button to the upward/“OFF” position will return the heater to the low heat setting. (see Fig A) INSTALLATION NOTE: A 15AMP,120Volt circuit is required. Dedicated circuit is preferred but not essential in all cases. A dedicated circuit will be required if after installation the circuit breaker trips or the fuse blows on a regular basis when the heater is operating. Additional appliance on the same circuit may exceed the current rating of the circuit breaker. WARNING: 1. 2. 3. Ensure the power cord is not installed so that it is pinched or against a sharp edge and ensure that the power cord is stored or secured to avoid tripping or snagging to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons. Construction and electrical outlet wiring must comply with local building codes and other applicable regulations to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. Do not attempt to wire your own new outlets or circuits. To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, always use a licensed electrician. BEFORE USING THIS APPLIANCE: 1. 2. 3. Please check that the circuit break for this appliance is on. Light bulbs may become loose during shipping. If the flame effect is dim or does not operate properly at first, ensure that the light bulbs are properly secured in the sockets (bulbs should be finger tightened --don’t over tighten). See “Replacing Light Bulb” section of this manual for instructions. The information regarding this appliance can be found on the rating plate located on the back of the unit. PLUGGING IN THE HEATER: 1. 2. Make sure the appliance’s main “I/O” is switch OFF(refer to operating instruction section). Plug the unit into a no less 15Amp/120V outlet. Secure end of “flame wand” back into the support bracket. 1. Turn all controls off, unplug the appliance. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Plug back in and restart. 1. Turn all controls off. Unplug the appliance. Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes. Plug back in and restart. 2. Reset house circuit breaker.
