Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984,
makes or intends to make the following Orders.
ASHFORD AREA
A28 CHART ROAD, ASHFORD (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
To allow cleansing and a CCTV Survey of the drainage
system to be carried out, Kent County Council has made
an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on
sections of Chart Road, Ashford.
Phased overnight closures are due to commence from
7 April 2015, with the planned dates shown below. The
dates may vary, subject to weather conditions and other
factors, and will be signposted on site in advance. Some
further closures may be required in connection with
these works, to be advised once confirmed.
Closures will be between 19:00 hours through until 06:00
hours each night, except where otherwise stated.
Chart Road will be closed in phases, as shown below,
with additional closures of part of Carlton Road.
PHASE 1 - A28 CHART ROAD, ASHFORD closed
between the junction with Brookfield Road (‘Matalan’
Roundabout) and the junction with Loudon Way
Planned for the nights of 7 & 8 April 2015
The alternative route is via B2229 Brookfield Road,
Leacon Road, Victoria Road, A2042 Beaver Road, A292
Elwick Road, Godinton Road, West Street, Forge Lane,
New Street, Chart Road, A20 Maidstone Road, Drovers
(Simone Weil) Roundabout, A28 Templar Way and A28
Chart Road
PHASE 2 - A28 CHART ROAD closed between the junction
with Loudon Way and Chart Road (‘Tank’) Roundabout
Planned for the nights of 9 & 10 April
The alternative route is via A28 Chart Road, Brunswick
Road and Carlton Road
Waiting will be prohibited on both sides of Brunswick
Road for its entire length, between 18:00 hours through
to 06:00 hours on the nights that this phase applies
PHASE 3 – CARLTON ROAD closed between Chart Road
Roundabout and the junction with Bridge Road
Planned for the nights of 15 & 16 April, between 23:30
hours through until 06:00 hours (timed to coincide with
last bus)
The alternative route is via A28 Chart Road, Brunswick
Road and Carlton Road
PHASE 4 – CHART ROAD closed between Chart Road
Roundabout and the junction with Repton Manor Road
Planned for the nights of 15 & 16 April
The alternative route is via A28 Templar Way, A20
Maidstone Road and Chart Road
For Phases 3 and 4, only one road will be closed at any
one time.
CANTERBURY ROAD, BRABOURNE (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of works to provide a new electricity supply,
Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily
prohibit through traffic on part of Canterbury Road,
Brabourne Lees, Ashford.
A closure is planned to commence from 7 April 2015 for
an estimated period of up to 2 days.
Canterbury Road will be closed in the vicinity of Hope
Cottages and Mill House, with no through access
between the junctions with Plain Road and Pound Lane.
The alternative route is via Plain Road and Pound Lane
(Pound House Road).
Due to the nature of these works, it will not be possible
to re-open the road outside the working hours.
CANTERBURY AREA
A290 ST PETER’S PLACE, CANTERBURY (PROHIBITION
OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of works to replace street-lighting columns,
Kent County Council has made an Order to temporarily
prohibit through traffic on A290 St Peter’s Place,
Canterbury.
Weekend closures are planned to start from 11 April 2015
as shown below, between 08:00 hours and 17:00 hours
each day.
A290 St Peter’s Place, Canterbury will be closed for its
entire length (i.e. between St Peter’s Roundabout to the
junction with St Peter’s Street)
On Saturdays 11 and 18 April, St Peter’s Place will be
closed northbound only (i.e. towards Westgate Towers)
On Sundays 12 and 19 April, St Peter’s Place will be closed
in both directions.
The alternative route is via A290 St Dunstan’s Street,
London Road and A2050 Rheims Way (and the same in
reverse for full closures)
Local access will be maintained to Tower Way, Black
Griffin Lane and St Peter’s Close from the St Dunstan’s
Street direction.
B2068 STONE STREET, PETHAM (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of water mains replacement works, Kent County
Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit
through traffic on part of B2068 Stone Street, Petham,
Canterbury.
A closure is planned to commence from Tuesday 7 April
2015 for an estimated period of up to 3 weeks.
B2068 Stone Street will be closed between the junctions
with Chequers Hill and Town Road, with no through
access at any time.
There will be no direct access between Hythe / A20 / M20
to and from Canterbury using Stone Street during these
works.
The alternative route is via B2068 Stone Street, Stanford
Bypass, Stanford Intersection, A20 Ashford Road,
Cheriton Interchange, B2046 Cheriton Approach,
Cheriton High Street, Cheriton Road, A2034 Cherry
Garden Avenue, A259 Churchill Avenue, A260 Canterbury
Road, White Horse Hill, Spitfire Way, Canterbury Road,
The Street, Canterbury Road, Old Dover Road, A2 Dover
Road, A2050 Dover Road, New Dover Road, St Lawrence
Road, Old Dover Road, B2068 Nackington Road, Faussett
Hill, Street End and Stone Street
Due to the nature of these works, it will not be possible
to re-open the road outside the working hours.
Temporary 7.5 T weight restrictions will be imposed on
the following roads at their junctions with the B2068
during these works

A temporary mandatory speed limit of 30 mph will
be imposed on B2068 Stone Street, Petham, in both
directions, from a point approximately 200 metres
south of Chequers Hill extending northwards to a point
approximately 400 metres north of Chequers Hill, from
30 March 2015 onwards for up to 6 weeks, as and when
the relevant 30 mph Speed Limit signs are displayed on
site. This is in conjunction with temporary traffic lights.
BAKER’S LANE, CHARTHAM (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)
TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
To allow works to plane off and resurface the carriageway
following development, Kent County Council intends to
make an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic on
part of Baker’s Lane, Chartham, Canterbury.
Daytime closures are planned to commence from
Thursday 23 April 2015 for up to 2 days, between 08:00
hours and 17:00 hours each day.
Baker’s Lane will be closed in the vicinity of the new
development, with no through access during works.
The alternative route is via Station Road, The Green,
Parish Road and Shalmsford Street.
STOUR STREET, CANTERBURY (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
To allow safe access to underground structures for
cabling works to provide a new phone service, Kent
County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily
prohibit through traffic on part of Stour Street,
Canterbury.
An off-peak closure is planned for Tuesday 21 April 2015
between 09:30 hours and 15:30 hours.
Stour Street will be closed between the junctions with
Hospital Lane and Beer Cart Lane.
The alternative route is via Rosemary Lane, Castle Street,
A28 Pin Hill, Rhodaus Town, Watling Street and Beer Cart
Lane.
WESTBERE LANE, WESTBERE (PROHIBITION OF
DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of works to provide a new water connection,
Kent County Council intends to make an Order to
temporarily prohibit through traffic on part of Westbere
Lane, Westbere, Canterbury.
A closure is planned to commence from 20 April 2015 for
an estimated period of up to 5 days.
Westbere Lane will be closed in the vicinity of number 6,
with no through access between Staines Hill and Church
Lane.
The alternative route is via Westbere Lane, A28 Staines
Hill, Island Road and Bushy Hill Road.
Due to the nature of these works, it will not be possible
to re-open the road outside the working hours.
WICK LANE, WOOLAGE GREEN & FIRS ROAD,
WOMENSWOLD (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)
TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of cable works in connection with the
installation of fibre-optic broadband, Kent County
Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit
through traffic on Wick Lane, Woolage Green and Firs
Road, Womenswold (Canterbury area).
Phased closures are planned to commence from 20 April
2015 for an estimated period of up to 2 weeks.
Wick Lane, Woolage Green and Firs Road, Womenswold
will be closed in phases from the A2 as far as the junction
with Forstal Road / Woolage Green Road, with no
through access at any time.
The alternative routes are
Westbound (towards A2) via B2046 Adisham Road,
Snowdown Road, Nethersole Road and Forstal Road
Eastbound (from A2) via A2 Dover Road, Westcourt Road,
Westcourt Lane and Woolage Green Road
Due to the nature of these works, it will not be possible
to re-open the road outside the working hours.
DARTFORD AREA
SWANLEY LANE, SWANLEY, SEVENOAKS (PROHIBITION
OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of Highway Improvement Works, Kent County
Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through
traffic on Swanley Lane, Swanley, Sevenoaks, on or after
20th April 2015 for up to 5 nights or until the works
have been completed between the hours of 20:00hrs to
05:00hrs.
The road will be closed from its junction with
Bartholomew Way to its junction with Lullingstone
Avenue.
The alternative route is via Swanley Lane, Swanley, Main
Road, Swanley, Top Dartford Road, Swanley, Barn End
Lane, Wilmington, High Road, Wilmington, Common
Lane, Wilmington, Oakfield Lane, Dartford, Birchwood
Road, Wilmington, Birchwood Road, Swanley, Maidstone
Road, Swanley, Bartholomew Way, Swanley.
DOVER AREA
A258 DEAL ROAD, ST MARGARET’S AT CLIFFE
(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of carriageway resurfacing works, Kent County
Council intends to make an Order to temporarily prohibit
through traffic on part of A258 Deal Road, St Margaret’s
at Cliffe, Dover.
Overnight closures are planned for the nights of
Thursday 23 & Friday 24 April and Monday 27 & Tuesday
28 April 2015. Closures will be between 20:00 hours
through until 05:00 hours each night (up to 9 hours per
night).
A258 Deal Road will be closed between A2 Duke of
York’s Roundabout and the junction with The Lane (near
Swingate Inn).
~ There will be no direct access between Dover and Deal
using the A258 during these works ~
The alternative route is via A2 Trunk Road, A256
Whitfield Bypass, Eastry Bypass, Sandwich Road, A258
Deal Road, Sandwich Road (Hacklinge Hill), London Road,
Queen Street, Broad Street, Beach Street, Deal Castle
Road, (Victoria Road and Ranelagh Road in opposite
direction due to one-way system), The Strand, Dover
Road and Deal Road.
COOMBE VALLEY ROAD, DOVER (TRAFFIC
RESTRICTIONS) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of gas mains replacement works, Kent County
Council has made an Order to temporarily prohibit
through traffic on part of Coombe Valley Road, Dover,
and to impose traffic restrictions on other nearby roads.
A closure is planned to commence from 7 April 2015 with
estimated completion by 1 June 2015.
COOMBE VALLEY ROAD
Coombe Valley Road will be closed between the
junctions with A256 London Road and Magdala Road,
with no through access at any time. There will be No Left
Turn from London Road into Coombe Valley Road.
The alternative routes are
Westbound via A256 London Road, Crabble Hill, Crabble
Road, Crabble Avenue, Hillside Road, Bunkers Hill Road,
St Radigund’s Road and Barwick Road
Eastbound via Barwick Road, St Radigund’s Road,
Bunkers Hill Road, Hillside Road, Crabble Avenue,
Crabble Road, A256 Crabble Hill, London Road, Buckland
Avenue, Cherry Tree Avenue and London Road
Due to the nature of these works, it will not be possible
to re-open the road outside the working hours.
ST RADIGUND’S ROAD
The One-way Traffic Order in respect of St Radigund’s
Road will be suspended for buses only, between the
junctions with Magdala Road and London Road, to allow
its eastbound use by buses on stage carriage services.
The One-way Traffic Order will be suspended between
the junctions with Lister Close and London Road, to allow
access to and exit from Lister Court.
Waiting will be prohibited at all times on St Radigund’s
Road, between the junctions with London Road and
Magdala Road on any sections on which there are no
existing restrictions, to the extent indicated by double
yellow lines on site.
Waiting will be prohibited at all times on the south side
of St Radigund’s Road outside property numbers 131-149,
to facilitate large vehicles turning.
HILLSIDE ROAD
Waiting will be prohibited between 08:30 hours and
17:30 hours on the both sides of Hillside Road, to the
extent indicated by single yellow lines, to facilitate its
use by larger vehicles.
CRABBLE AVENUE
Waiting will be prohibited between 08:30 hours and
17:30 hours on the northern side of Crabble Avenue, to
the extent indicated by single yellow lines, to facilitate its
use by larger vehicles.
LYDDEN HILL RACE CIRCUIT (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING)
TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
For the safety of the public during event weekends
at Lydden Hill Race Circuit, Kent County Council has
made an Order to temporarily prohibit through traffic
on various roads in the vicinity of Lydden Hill circuit,
Lydden, Dover from 6 April 2015, as shown below.
On event weekends, certain roads in Denton and
Wootton will be closed, as shown below.
DENTON LANE and SHELVIN LANE closed at their
junctions with A260 Canterbury Road
GEDDINGE LANE closed to the west of the entrance to AB
Crush Panelcraft
SIDE HILLS (leading to CLINTS LANE) closed at the
junction with A260 Canterbury Road
WOOTTON LANE closed at the junction with Stockham
Lane
The above closures are between 07:00 hours and 13:00
hours each day
There will be no access from the A260 Canterbury Road
/ The Street to Lydden Hill Race Circuit using the above
roads
Managed access will be allowed for residents and visitors
having a valid Permit
SHELVIN LANE closed at the junction with the A2 Trunk
Road between 15:30 hours and 18:00 hours each day.
The alternative route to Lydden Hill Race Circuit is via
A260 The Street, Canterbury Road and A2 Trunk Road.
These restrictions apply on the following planned dates
• 6 April 2015
• 18 & 19 April
• 4 May
• 9 & 10 May
• 23 & 24 May
• 8 & 9 August
• 22 & 23 August
• 31 August
• 19 & 20 September
• 12 March 2016
The restrictions will also apply for any other events that
may be arranged, for up to one year.
GRAVESHAM AREA
NORTHFLEET GREEN ROAD, NORTHFLEET, GRAVESEND
(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of a water main connection, Kent County
Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through
traffic on Northfleet Green, Northfleet, Gravesend, on or
after 20th April 2015 for up to 7 days or until the works
have been completed.
The road will be closed from Northfleet Green to Hazels
Farm.
The alternative route is via Northfleet Green, New Barn
Road, Broad Ditch Road and Downs Road.
MAIDSTONE AREA
CHURCH ROAD, TOVIL, SYMONDS LANE & MILL LANE,
YALDING AND YELSTED LANE, BOXLEY (PROHIBITION
OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of carriageway works, Kent County Council
intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on
Church Road, Tovil, Symonds Lane & Mill Lane, Yalding
and Yelsted Lane, Boxley, as per the schedule below.
SCHEDULE
Church Road, Tovil – 21 April 2015 for up to 1 day or until
the works have been completed. The diversion is via Tovil
Hill and Church Street.
Symonds Lane, Yalding – 21 April 2015 for up to 1 day or
until the works have been completed. The diversion is
via Lees Road and Benover Road.
Mill Lane, Yalding – 21 April 2015 for up to 2 days or until
the works have been completed. The diversion is via
Benover Road, High Street and Vicarage Road.
Yelsted Lane, Boxley – 22 April 2015 for up to 1 day or
until the works have been completed. The diversion is
via Lidsing Road and Harp Farm Road.
PLANTATION LANE & ROSEACRE LANE, BEARSTED
(PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2015
Because of gas main replacement works, Kent County
Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through
traffic on Plantation Lane & Roseacre Lane, Bearsted, on
or after 20 April 2015 for up to 2 weeks per phase or until
the works have been completed.
