POSITION DESCRIPTION Title: Project Officer Reporting to: Office Manager Current Occupant: New position Position Three days per week (flexible days) Salary package $80,000/annum including superannuation (pro rata to three days) THE MENZIES FOUNDATION The Menzies Foundation was established in 1979 in memory of Sir Robert Menzies, Australia’s longest-serving Prime Minister. The Menzies Foundation is a non-political, national not-for-profit organisation. The Foundation aims to commemorate the achievements of Sir Robert Menzies with a focus on growing opportunities in education, health and medical research, and fostering leadership. The Foundation supports prestigious postgraduate scholarships in allied health, engineering, law and medical research, as well as Menzies Scholarships to Harvard University taken up in a wider range of graduate disciplines. Tertiary scholarships are also available to senior school students in a rural North West region of Victoria. The Foundation nurtures excellence in health research through its formative role in establishing the Menzies School of Health Research in Darwin, the Menzies Institute for Medical Research in Hobart, and the Menzies Centre for Health Policy in Sydney and Canberra. In 2014, Griffith University and the Menzies Foundation announced the establishment, in 2015, of the Menzies Health Institute Queensland. The Foundation also provides leadership through facilitating workshops and initiatives on matters of national importance. This includes memorial initiatives that support the legacy and history of Sir Robert Menzies. From the age of 13, Bob Menzies secured scholarships to complete his secondary and tertiary education in Melbourne. He went on to an outstanding life of public service in law and politics and national leadership as Prime Minister. His extraordinary story exemplifies the transformative power of education. It has been the inspiration for the Menzies Foundation in supporting more than 180 talented young Australians since 1982 with prestigious Menzies scholarships. Many Menzies scholars are now the leaders of their generation in their various fields of endeavour. Awards have been made to recipients from every State and Territory in Australia. THE POSITION Purpose of Position The purpose of this new position is to provide support to small to medium sized initiatives that support and advance the Foundation’s core vision. The position operates within a small team and is expected to also assist with basic duties to support the day to day operations of the Foundation. MF Project Officer PD April 2015 POSITION DESCRIPTION Accountabilities and Responsibilities These include but are not limited to: Supporting the Communications Manager by: updating current and new content for the website, producing and assessing website reports and social media use, monitoring external media relevant to the Foundation’s work, other related tasks as directed. Supporting the Office Manager by: administering the Foundation’s undergraduate Tertiary Scholarship Program, online archiving of historical content and managing external memorabilia, resource material and copyright requests, maintaining stakeholder databases, including desktop research, administering scholar alumni database, membership and notices assisting with the organisation and servicing of Foundation events and meetings assisting with administrative tasks as directed and required, eg, scholarship and general enquiries, travel bookings, coordinating maintenance and services personnel Additional responsibilities include: working with external organisations and donors, assisting with fundraising strategies, providing administrative support to other activities and personnel as part of working in a small team. Additional Information Some intrastate and interstate travel may be required. Some out of hours work will be required. High level of competency in IT and use of a range of current office computer packages, webbased tools and databases. Demonstrated experience with content management systems, online communications including social media, websites and e-communication techniques. Demonstrated experience in working with donors. Demonstrated donor and stakeholder database management. Understanding of media and exposure to media monitoring. Demonstrated project management or event management capability. Workplace flexibility including the ability to multi-task and work with a small team. Excellent written and verbal skills with an ability to deal with people at all levels. Desirable Experience with annual giving and bequest programs. Scholarship administration experience. Self-motivated and self-directed.
