Spring 2015
PRE-RED STAGE: This 30-minute class is designed
specifically for kids ages 2 to 5 years old. They will focus
on eye-hand coordination, balance, motor skills,
racquet handling, and most importantly FUN! Red balls
are used along with 19 inch racquets, on a 36 ft court
with a smaller net, along with other fun equipment.
RED STAGE 1: This class provides 3 to 5 year olds with
fun activities that improve their eye-hand coordination,
gross and fine motor skills and racquet skills. Focus is
placed on improving basic movement and coordination.
Red balls are used along with 19 or 21 inch racquets on
36 ft courts in a 30-minute class.
RED STAGE 2: This game-based class provides 6 to 8
year olds with fun activities that increase their
movement, balance, coordination and motor skill
development. Their tennis fundamentals improve as
players learn to control the racquet better with
increased tracking and judging skills. Children learn
how to serve, rally and score. Red balls are used along
with 21 and 23 inch racquets on 36 ft courts in a 1-hour
class.
ORANGE STAGE: This game-based class provides 8 to
10 year olds increased focus on developing proper shot
technique for serves, returns of serve, rallying, net
play, projection and reception skills in both singles and
doubles situations, and scoring. Orange balls are used
along with 21, 23 or 25 inch racquets on 60 ft courts in a
1-hour class.
GREEN STAGE: This game-based class emphasizes all
aspects of the game and stresses proper shot
technique. Emphasis is placed on live ball drills that
develop rallying and decision making skills in singles
and doubles focusing on projection and reception skills.
Point playing games are used to reinforce skills learned
while also simulating rallying situations. Green balls
are used in this 1-hour class which is played on a 78 ft
court.
MATCH PLAY: This supervised play session involves
players of the orange getting together and playing
while being coached by an MTC pro. It will involve
players putting into effect what has been learned in
the instructional sessions by serving, rallying and scoring.
HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING (HIT) LITE 1 & 2: This
game-based program is for middle school and high
school players that want to learn to play tennis
recreationally as a sport of a lifetime. Learning will
include serve, return of serve, ground strokes, volleys,
and overheads. On-court drills are used to simulate
serving, rallying, and scoring situations. Yellow balls
are used in this 1-hour class which is played on a 78 ft
court.
HIGH INTENSITY TRAINING (HIT) PROGRAM: This is
a year-round program for junior players who aspire to
achieve excellence through tennis. Acceptance into the
HIT Program is at the discretion of Mid-Atlantic
Performance Tennis Academy (MAPTA) staff. See

Junior Development Terms & Conditions
REGISTRATION: To register, please complete the registration form and sign it. Please return the completed form with a
check (payable to Midlothian Tennis Club) or club account to the Front Desk. We accept Visa and Master Card. Acceptance
into the class is based on meeting qualifications as noted in class description and/or upon approval of the Head Pro.
PAYMENTS: All class fees are due with the registration form on or before the first day of class. A $25 service fee is added
to accounts not paid in full by the first day of class.
EXCEPTIONS TO THIS ARE:
a. If a student enrolls in a class after the start of the session and is unable to make-up classes that were missed, then a
pro-rated fee may be approved by the Tennis Director or Head Pro
b. Players who are drop-ins
c. Drop-ins pay 40% over the member fee
d. Nonmembers pay 40% over the nonmember fee
To withdraw, a student must notify the Tennis Director in writing after the second scheduled class and prior to the
third scheduled class. After the third scheduled class, the student is liable for full tuition.
Fees are non-refundable except as follows:
a. For medical disabilities, a pro rata or credit less 10% processing charge shall be given from the date the refund is
requested when accompanied by a doctor’s statement explaining the nature of the disability or injury.
b. A pro rata refund or credit shall be issued to a student who is asked to withdraw from a class due to not meeting
entry level requirements. No refund will be issued if a student is asked to withdraw due to behavior/tennis etiquette reasons.
MISSED CLASSES: There are no refunds on missed classes. Make up classes are based on availability in each class and
must be made up during the current session.
INCLEMENT WEATHER: Please call the Front Desk at 804-763-6006 to see whether the lesson will be held.
CLASS ADJUSTMENTS: Any class that has less than three pre-registered students (this excludes make-up students) will
have the time for the class adjusted or rescheduled. For adjustment times, please see the Head Pro.
