Our children were educated here and are starting their families. I want to ensure my family and yours benefit from a great education system. 2. I’ve learned a great deal during my first term and have more work to do: a. advocating for additional education funding and a better co-governance relationship with the province b. participating in the implementation of the District’s Strategic Plan c. completing and implementing the District’s 10-year facilities plan d. continuing the development and updating of important policies like the use of technology and social media, safe and caring schools, financial management, etc. 3. Trustees were represented on various internal and community advisory committees, made presentations to PAC groups, attended partner group meetings and met with MLAs, Municipal Councils, the Katzie First Nation, the BC School Trustees Association and other organizations. The Board met with MLAs and the Minister of Education and forwarded several letters advocating for additional funding, providing a plan for government to do so while maintaining a balanced budget. http://www1.sd42.ca/node/2329. The Board submitted three balanced and terribly challenging budgets given the limits of provincial funding. The District achieved one of the highest grad rates in the Province (90.1%) and exceptional results in the elementary literacy program and the student inquiry project.
