March 24th, 2015 During this year’s Salone Internazionale del Mobile, Milan, SodaStream
previews their latest innovative product - The SodaStream MIX, set to disrupt the drinks
industry with particular application for the world of mixology. Designed by Yves Behar, the
SodaStream MIX is the first appliance to carbonate any and all liquids, from pure fruit juices
to alcoholic beverages.
SodaStream MIX corresponds with the growing trend for more advanced and professional
home entertainment devices and products in food and drink. With its digital interface, App
and Bluetooth connectivity the SodaStream MIX is fully integrated into the Internet of
Things, providing new opportunities for both professional bar tenders and sophisticated
home users.
To celebrate the unveiling of MIX during Design Week, Behar has designed The Alchemy
Lounge, a futuristic pop-up bar located in the dramatic, oval-shaped, mirror hall at the iconic
Teatro Versace in the center of Milan. The diamond shaped bar houses MIX devices and
laboratory tools, while the bar exterior provides guests with 360° of service. Industryleading mixologists will be transformed into flavor scientists able to experiment as never
before with the freedom to fizz any creation, delivering an entirely new beverage experience.
“After two years in development, MIX’s advanced technology has already garnered
admiration from the world’s leading beverage professionals, who believe the unrestricted
use across all drink formats will stimulate new beverage possibilities. The MIX combines
technological breakthrough with the most advanced user interface ever seen in kitchen
appliances and most importantly it allows home users & professional mixologists to create
new exciting beverages they could have not done before! This is the most innovative
product SodaStream has ever put forward.” Says Yaron Kopel, Chief Innovation & Design
Officer at SodaStream
"The MIX reveals an entire new generation of SodaStream products that the company has
been developing for the last few years. Its potential is tremendous and we are extremely
excited to unveil it next month in Milan." Says Daniel Birnbaum, CEO at SodaStream
"MIX opens the door for a new category of beverages, with a connected kitchen appliance
unlike anything in existence. Beautifully crafted physically and digitally, the machine puts
innovation in your hands, and lets you share your creations with the world. Because, in the
end, who wants a gin and tonic when there is new alchemy opening new tasty worlds?"

Technological Breakthrough, statement by Yaron Kopel, Chief Innovation and
Design Officer, SodaStream
"Aesthetically, MIX maintains the same design language as the other SodaStream
machines – beautifully crafted, minimal and clean design, complementary of any kitchen
environment. However, two noticeable changes are present to the exterior of the machine
that set MIX apart from anything on the market: a connected touch screen, and a discreet
stirrer device. These two features, beyond marking the distinction of this machine from all
others, are actually part of the major technological innovations that make MIX possible.
The screen has users choose from an array of recipes, from classic fruit juices to artisanal
cocktails, and then lets the user customize the carbonation intensity and choose a variety of
bottle sizes according to their needs; in this way, every MIX beverage is made perfectly the
way you want it and in the size you need it (300, 500, 1000 ml). The machine also connects
to the cloud with a corresponding app, allowing you to make your own recipes and share
them with the world, or send it straight to your personal machine. Once the user touches
“Go” on the screen, it’s the innovative technology under the surface that makes the magic
happen. MIX calibrates the beverage inside of the bottle, even if it contains fruit or pulp,
and utilizes a new carbonation technology that includes CO2 injection, stirrer technology
pressure regulation and software configuration to control the release of pressure. The
stirrer technology also helps to perfect the bubbles and refine the drink. The result is like
nothing in the market today."
Yaron Kopel, Chief Innovation & Design Officer at SodaStream
EDITOR’S NOTES
Throughout the week SodaStream will serve cocktails carbonated by MIX. The
cocktails will be made together with the Campari group line of alcoholic brands,
from Campari to Appelton.

Teatro Versace
Teatro Versace opened its doors in September 2006, but the building in which it is located
dates back to the 1920s and was formerly home to Milano’s historical Teatro Alcione. The
site was once property of Liberty-style architect Alfredo Campanini, located in Piazza Vetra,
at the centre of a classic Milanese setting among residential palazzi. Its elliptical shape is
based on proportions used in the construction of ancient amphitheatres.
