you to all of the Franklin families for helping to make my first year at
Franklin a very memorable year. Your patience and flexibility throughout
the year are greatly appreciated. Most importantly, the ideas and input you

Before the school year ends we have planned a very fun and exciting month of May and the
first week of June! Below you will find some important dates! Be sure to mark you calendar

5th Grade PARCC Testing
The Franklin 3rd - 5th grade students will begin the End-of-Year (EOY) PARCC testing on May
11th and will finish the testing on May 22nd. Please support your students during this testing
time, just as you did for the last round of state/federal assessments. The students will complete
three tests over the two-week period. Thank you for your help with this as we wrap up the
school year!

Nurse’s Notes…
Reminder - All kindergarten and 2nd grade students
need to submit a dental examination or a dental waiver form by May 15 th. Forms
can be picked up in the office or printed from the Moline School District website.

All 5th grade students will need to submit a 6th grade physical before the end of school, at registration, or the start of the new school year. Please take notice of the state requirements specific for entrance to 6th grade. This information can be found on the notice that came home or in
the Health and Safety tab of the Moline School District website.
Make your physical appointments now, the Doctor’s offices fill up fast for these appointments.

Yearbook
BIG thanks to Cheri Mohr for putting together this year’s book. Thanks to
Megan Wanek for compiling all orders and much appreciation to all the parents and staff who provided pictures. Yearbooks will be distributed in late
May to those who placed orders. Look for notices in late May for any extra yearbooks that
may be available for purchase.
PALS: The “Parents Accelerate Learning” Reading program ends May 1st. Since November,
the K-3rd graders have been checking out books twice a week to read at home with their parents. Much appreciation to the parents who have staffed this program all year: Sara Wynn,
Matt Wanek, Amanda Casterson, Cali Milligan, Emily Keag and Christine Nelson.
Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week
Teachers and Staff will be celebrated May 4-8 at Franklin! Feel free to show your personal appreciation to individual staff members such as classroom teachers, reading and math tutors, PE,
Art and Music teachers, Librarian, office staff, classroom aides, custodians,
lunchroom staff, or anyone at Franklin who has helped your child this year.
You can send an email, note, or any
token of your appreciation.

A reminder for families who have been renting
an instrument from Moline Schools:
Per the rental contract, certain school-owned instruments must be returned before the end of the school year. Instruments to be returned are: flute, clarinet, cornet,
trumpet, trombone, violin, and viola. All these instruments, must be returned on
Wednesday, May 27th at Coolidge.
