Iron Phosphate Conversion Coatings
These processes convert the metal surface to a nonmetallic, iron phosphate coating that inhibits
corrosion, and increases the adhesion and durability of paint finishes. These substantial increases in
the life of the paint result from the fact that the coating provides a clean, grease-free/oil-free surface,
corrosion-inhibiting base for paint, and a non-conducting bond between the base metal and the paint.

Manganese Phosphate Conversion Coatings
These corrosion-resistant coatings consist chiefly of iron and manganese phosphates, and reduce wear on
such articles as pistons, rings, liners, camshafts, tappets, motor blocks and similar bearing surfaces. Other
beneficial effects are: permits rapid break-in of moving parts without scuffing or welding by preventing
metal-to-metal contact between the bearing surfaces; increases lubrication of treated surfaces due to the
oil-absorptive coating; and removes light metal scratches remaining from machining operations.

Elastomeric Bonding
& Sealing
Terostat® MS elastomeric
adhesives and sealants are
moisture curing, salinemodified polymers that provide
strong, resilient bonds to many
substrates – all without the
need for a primer. Terostat® MS
products are isocyanate and
solvent free, noncorrosive, and
compatible with most paint
systems. Once fully cured, these
high-performance elastomers
provide excellent weathering and
aging resistance.
60
Terostat® MS 930™ – Soft, elastic sealant for seam and joint sealing; used in railway and
container manufacture and HVAC applications.
Terostat® MS 935™ – Elastic one-component sealer with excellent adhesion to many substrates;
balance of elastomeric and adhesive properties.
Terostat® MS 939™ – Combination of high elongation and high tensile strength. It has good
adhesion to many substrates, as well as good impact and peel resistance.
Terostat® MS 9360™ – Designed for elastic bonding and sealing of both painted and un-painted
metal substrates; one-component.
Terostat® MS 9380™ – High tensile strength and high hardness elastomeric product; used in
adhesive bonding applications subject to harsh environmental conditions.
Terostat® MS 9399™ – A two-part adhesive system ideal for use when the curing rate of one-part
adhesives is too slow, such as in deep channels, or where moisture cannot penetrate to cure.
Parts A & B have a 1:1 mix ratio and create a sealant that is non-sagging, has high initial tack
and fast set time.
Terostat® MS 9371™ – A curing rate accelerant used in conjunction with various grades of
Terostat® brand MS sealants, such as MS 930™ and MS 939™; hastens curing throughout
the depth of the applied bead; mixed in a 10:1 ratio using metering system or plural
dispensing static mix caulking guns.

Potting, Molding
& Encapsulating
Potting, Molding
& Encapsulating
Potting and encapsulating
compounds are used to fill large
voids and provide mechanical
reinforcement to housed or
unitized assemblies, as well as
to protect components from the
effects of exposure to chemicals,
moisture, mechanical shock, and
vibration. Sealing components
with potting and encapsulating
compounds prevents corrosion
and ensures long-term
integrity of the device. To assist
manufacturers in meeting these
challenges, Henkel offers a wide
range of one-part and twopart epoxy and polyurethane
compounds.
