“MONOMACHI”, a festival vitalizing KACHIKURA will be held again this year.
The seventh “MONOMACHI” festival is coming soon!

Monomachi Association is pleased to announce that the seventh “MONOMACHI”
festival will be held again this year between May 22nd (Fri) and May 24th (Sun).
MONOMACHI festival is a perfect opportunity to fully enjoy the Kachikura area of southern
Taito Ward (an area with a radius of two kilometers covering Okachimachi, Kuramae and
Asakusabashi), which is increasingly under media spotlight.
Since first held in 2011, MONOMACHI is visited by a large number of people every year.
Entering its seventh season, the theme for this season will be “MONOMACHI Seven”, with
the limited “MONOMACHI Seven logo” developed from the number “7” available in various
shops. These limited items will bring additional excitement to the MONOMACHI over three
days from May 22nd to May 24th.
Currently, preparations are underway on various MONOMACHI limited workshops and events
towards the opening. Special collaboration items which can only be completed by visiting
certain shops are being planned.
Not only for the first time visitors but also for those who have participated previously, you
will discover a new MONOMACHI that you have never seen before. Don’t miss this special
three day festival filled with discoveries from May 22nd to May 24th! In addition to the 197
participating shops, 57 restaurants and cafés in the Monomachi area will also participate.
With a total of 254 shops (the largest ever) coming together and uniting the area as one, we
are tirelessly making all necessary arrangements towards this powerful three day festival.

Get the MONOMACHI Seven Passport (charges apply) from
an information center and collect the stamps from the
participating shops within the entire MONOMACHI area.
Number of passport is limited! So hurry! *The image shown
is the passport for the 6th festival.

A valuable tour experience that is popular every time, which
includes visits to craftsmen’s studios and direct talks from
craftsmen. Advance booking is necessary to participate in
this tour. Booking will be available from May 12 (Tue) via
website.
★ MONOMACHI Creators’ Market

“Creators’ Market” will gather selected leading creators from
various regions in two venues this time! They will be held at
the familiar 2K540 (Okachimachi) and the Satake Shopping
Arcade (Shin-Okachimachi).

★ Taito Designers’ Village
-Facility open house
Date & Time:
May 22 (Fri) – 24 (Sun) 10:00 – 18:00
Many notable creators graduated from this Taito
Designer’s Village. This facility is not open to the public,
but an open house for the facility will be held during
MONOMACHI CITY WALK. Sales events by graduates and
Asakusa craft studios are also planned.
-Exhibition and lecture by the active maintenance
engineer of Japan Airlines

Various items related to aircrafts made by maintenance
engineers in active duty from Japan Airlines will be
exhibited. The maintenance engineers will answer your
questions about aircrafts. Special events will be held on May 23 (Sat) and 24 (Sun) from
2pm and 4pm. Further information will be updated on our website.
★ Okazu Yokocho -shopping street-Food court in Okazu Yokocho

If you feel hungry, check out the food court at Okazu
Yokocho. Delicious shops will align the traditional shopping
street for three days only.

Scheduled program: introduction to the history of public bath house “Sento” and the method
of taking bath, cleaning experience, photo shooting and bathing experience of the freshly
drawn bath. Limited bathing amenity sets which include a bathing ticket, a local-made linen
towel and shampoo will be provided to participants! (Participation fee: 2,000 JPY)

After exploring the town at MONOMACHI Seven, have a peek
at the night-time studios! Have an enjoyable moment with
craftsmen over a glass of sake at the town’s studios.

and Asakusabashi) and collect shop stamps listed in the sheet.
Once you get a bingo vertically, horizontally or diagonally, you
can enter a draw for a prize. MACHI Bingo sheets are distributed
at the participating shops and information center.
