Keeping your record books up-to-date is very important. It is so much easier to keep up on them rather than waiting until the last minute to try to get them done. I hope you keep the stress off of yourself by keeping up. Your club/project leaders are VOLUNTEERS, please treat them with the respect and know that they are not paid & meetings are during their family time. They deserve your attendance and attention during those meetings. Please remember that your club meetings are so important and mandatory to attend 75% not because we are mean but because ACCOUNTABILITY and RESPONSIBILITY are life skills that 4-H teaches you. If you are concerned about your absences and being eligible for county fair, please contact your club leader. 4-H Family, please don’t panic and stress out about the busy upcoming summer, we’ll get through together!! If you have a conflict with anything, please give me a call and we can work it out. I can do everything in my power to help you if you communicate with me PRIOR to deadlines. New for 2015 Montezuma County Fair August 1, 2015 Mandatory Sale Meeting, 8:00am Sale Ring Awards Program, 1:15-1:45pm Jr. Livestock Auction begins at 2:00pm. ROUND ROBIN (all animals) will be Saturday, August 1, hog barn, 9:00am Sid & Phyliss Snyder, our weigh masters, are going to be at the official scales from 1:00-2:00pm, ONLY, on Saturday, July 25. There was discrepancies with both scales last year which will happen with any two scales. However, they are going to let you weigh your animal AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! Meaning: you are taking a risk of shrinking and your animal weighing even less by the time you weigh in the following week. Everyone is excited for county fair to start and we have a lot of help & support for setting up. However, when the animals are checked out on Sunday morning everyone vanishes. We all want to be home to unpack, rest & relax before returning to work on Monday so we are going to be coming up with a schedule for clubs to help with trash and tearing down the ring from the sale. Last year, we had maybe 10 people helping and the majority was fair board. You get to enjoy county fair, we should all pitch in & help so we can all go home early. Livestock members: We have a schedule for you for trash-clean-up after each livestock show. Once again, everyone leaves the bleachers horribly messy. Goat Show—Swine members clean Lamb Show—Beef members clean Beef Show—Goat members clean Swine Show—Lamb members clean General Exhibit members: On Tuesday, July 21, MCFG, time TBD, please meet at the Zircon to unload everything to the Exhibit Hall. I do realize that you & your families are extremely busy with county fair and all that entails; exhibit watch, concessions, livestock shows, plus the jobs you all have with your clubs, among other things BUT just being proactive in picking up or simply throwing your trash away is AWESOME!! We cannot assume that someone is always going to clean up after us so it is APPRECIATED that you do your part to help!!! Thank you all soo much!!!
