Y7 French Writing Test
There are 3 parts to this test:
• Part A: Recognising Vocabulary – In part A you have to write the
English for some familiar words and phrases from the Module. To
prepare for this; create a list of words from the topics from
your vocab guide & test your knowledge.
• Part B: Level 2 Reading & Writing: In part B you have to match
sentences to the pictures, and then write some more about the other
pictures in French. An example is included in this power point.
• Part C : Level 3 Reading & Writing: In part C you read a short text
& answer questions IN ENGLISH about it & you write 2 short
paragraphs introducing yourself & describing your school equipment
in your pencil cases and bag, using mainly the vocabulary you
have learnt from the Module – just like you practised in class.

Part C: Level 3 Writing
The French magazine “Ados” is doing a feature on young people and their school
bags. Write a couple of paragraphs in French. Follow the structure below:
1st paragraph: Write a short paragraph to introduce yourself.
Try to include:
A greeting
Your name
Your age and birthday
Where you live
2nd paragraph: Describe what you have got in your bag and in your pencil case &
your opinions about your things. Write at least 3 sentences.
Try to include:
what objects there are & aren’t
what you have and haven’t got in your bag.
colours or other adjectives (describing words)
some simple opinions and connectives
There is an example on the next slide of what we are expecting for Level 3a

Bonjour!
Je m’appelle Elise et j’ai douze ans et mon anniversaire est
le deux juin. Et toi? j’habite à Calais, en France. Où
habites-tu?.
Dans mon sac j’ai une trousse “SpongeBob”, c’est super et j’ai
aussi trois cahiers, un agenda et un sandwich mais je n’ai pas
de livres. Dans ma trousse, il y a un stylo rouge, un stylo
bleu et une petite règle blanche. Il y a aussi des crayons de
couleurs et une nouvelle calculatrice. Il n’y a pas de
taille-crayon.

• 3a: You write short phrases from
memory. You communicate clearly with
almost no mistakes.
• 3b: You communicate clearly most of
the time. You make a few mistakes, but
they don’t impair communication.
• 3c: You communicate clearly some of
the time. You make mistakes which
sometimes impair communication.
