I am seeing more people attending the General Membership meetings which makes me very pleased and another note is that we are working as a ’Team’ on many of our business ventures. These will be discussed in the newsletter and we will go into it with more detail at our May 2015 meeting. We had our ’Soaking’ and wild Cruisin for April and hope the weather won’t be another factor for May. Good news is we did get 72 brave car enthusiast to come out to the event. Many thanks to the MOB members who helped with the event and we plan on seeing you in May. I don’t want to repeat myself because many of the activities are in the articles throughout the newsletter. Remember, we will be having Memorial Day this month so please drive safely and enjoy the time with your friends and families. Pay tribute to our military veterans past and current during the weekend. See everyone at the meeting, car events and be safe wherever you are. Thanks, President John Capua MOB Meeting at Tony’s Hotrod Hoagies May 14, 2015 At 7pm 575 S. They looked up my car and found that Trico now makes what they call "TRICO CLASSIC". Well, the picture looked fine, so I ordered a pair. What I got was so close to the original, I was amazed. Same metal, finish, size, and clips as the originals. The only difference I found was the originals have TRICO embossed in the metal and these don't. Other than that, a perfect match. The ones for my "69 Charger" are P/N 33-150. I also decided to bring the Hammer out for display. Oh what a mistake that was. Five minutes in the Cruise In parking lot and here comes some liquid sunshine. Not bad but enough to soak the car. Well it cleared up again and was nice for about 2 hours and then the weather Gods dumped a monsoon on us. Thunder, lightning, heavy rain and wind. We just barely got through the presentations (called it a night a 630pm) and it all started. Winds and rain were so heavy it blew down the tent , hit me in the head, and the canopy came off. So you can imagine what it was like. We all were soaked and dripping wet before we got out of there. So much for the gloomy part. We still managed to get 72 cars there and even with the weather, we had fun. Maybe next month it will be better, however this is the start of the rainy season. Now you need to bare with me since I am trying to read the Cruisin sheet what was soaking wet so I may not have the names correct or even an award (??). 1st Place winner went to Stephen D. with his 1964 Silver Nova 2nd Place winner was Paul Vatcher (MOB) The woman's gift basket went to Ken S. The 50/50 raffle was for $50 Steve DeRusso. Ok tried to get the 50/50 winner in a photo but he was floating down Palm Bay Rd! 3 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter Furious 7 movie Premier By Mark Walther Lights! Camera! MOPARs! The MOB was invited to a cruise-in to kick-off the world premiere of the Furious 7 movie on Friday evening the 3rd of April. They allowed us to park our cars in the front entry-way of the Cinemaworld Theater on New Haven Ave. Scott from Showin and Dion from the Camaro Club also brought down folks from their clubs. I didn’t get a total count, but I know we filled up front entry way and half the front driveway. People took photos of the cars as they entered and exited the theater through-out the evening. The crowds were thick and everyone enjoyed talking cars and were excited to see Furious 7. 4 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter MOPARS at Old Town Kissimmee By Mark Walther On April 4th the annual MOPARs at Old Town (Big Three) took place at Old Town Kissimmee. Several of us met at the Waffle House on Hwy 192 for the “cruise” to Old Town Kissimmee. Pete and Katie drove over early to save spots for the MOB to park together and it is a good thing they did. By the time we got there the parking lot was almost full. It was beautiful sunny day and everyone must have headed over early to enjoy MOPAR’s and car talk. There were 8 or 9 MOB member’s cars at the show. This is the third year I have attended this show and it seems that every year the number of older MOPARs decreases and newer MOPARs has increased. Last year it was about 50/50 as opposed to the prior year of 75% older to 25% newer. This year it appeared to be 75% newer to 25% older cars. Not sure if this is good or bad, just an observation. This show, as always, is a participant voting (people’s choice) show and the winners are selected from the top number of votes per vehicle. There were two categories, pre-1973 and 1974-to-present. I believe there were 10 trophies for each category. The MOB ended up taking 1 trophy in each category. Congratulations to Jim Centore for a win in early MOPAR with his immaculate ’69 Dodge Charger and I was honored again this year to receive a trophy for top 10 for modern MOPAR. Thank you for all who voted for me, it is appreciated. 5 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter Women Wrenches’ by Bridget Hagood I hope the title didn’t mislead anyone but spell check doesn’t like Wrenchers! I feel, like in a lot of endeavors people of the female persuasion get overshadowed by the men that preceded us. More often than I like to admit at car shows people assume that I am in attendance as a side note not as a major participant. I am often asked if my participation in our hobby of classic cars was fueled by a man in my life. I was always interested in mechanical things. I have owned a variety of classic cars before they were such a rage. As a young lady I drove tanks and operated a crane. My passion for automobiles was interrupted early in adulthood by kids and life. Later on my spark was rekindled by a new man in my life “Brutus”, a 1967 Plymouth convertible. So if anyone wonders I am a gear head of my own right, independent of any testosterone in the crowd. Anyway all had a great time and the show was nice with the cooperation of the weather. Just remember next time we meet if we shake hands you might get a little grease transfer. This last weekend was the Central Florida Car show held in historic Cocoa Village. I knew Frank would be taking my old flame Brutus so I had to choose another steed from my stable. I settled on a FoMoCo, Thor my 1957 Thunderbird. When our private caravan entered the esplanade for parking I noticed two other MOB members staging for the show. Mark Walther had his 2010 SRT8 Purple Passion Challenger and beside him was Walter Berndt’s 1965 Gold Hurst Barracuda. Both beautiful examples of MOPAR’s car craft! It was a beautiful day and all participants and attendees really enjoyed the display of Rolling Art. I guess the judges agreed with the fine crop of beautiful machines in attendance as the awards ceremony ran a half hour late. Even with their extra time the judges couldn’t get the MOPAR category right as they passed over all of the MOB’s entries; maybe next year. Frank is going to rebuild Brutus so if anyone wants to weigh in on a 273 Cu In LA engine project all help will be appreciated. At least the officials got the FoMoCo category right and “Thor” won his division. Not that we attend these functions for gold but I do not see how the MOB’s entries could have been ignored! 6 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter Cruisin’ for Charity NEW SPONSORS MOB 2015 Annual Picnic By Penny Anderson By John Capua Since the conception of “Cruisin’ for Charity” (Nov ’09), this monthly cruise in by the MOPAR of Brevard has grown by leaps and bounds. The attendance of participants and spectators have been astonishing; all in support of the Charity – Second Harvest Food Bank of Brevard County. The MOB picnic took place at the Fisherman’s Landing in Grant FL and we could not asked for a better day. Thankful the weather held up with no rain and plenty of sunshine. We actually had a great turnout from everyone and I estimate about 45-50 attended. There was never a doubt about the amount of food since we had more than enough and many thanks to all who brought the side dishes. My thanks go out to the cooks — Pete, Steve, Ray and Ed who did an outstanding job. I was kicked out of the kitchen by all of them! Oh well...whatever! As with any successful event, comes expenses. At this time, I am happy to announce that we have 11 sponsors come aboard to help defray these costs. They are Tommy’s Top Wrench Automotive, Protransmasters, Charlie’s Customs, Body’s by Doug, Line-X, Brevard Locksmith & Bicycle Shop, Buckman’s Auto Care, SpaceCoast Plating, Beachside Automotive , StandOut Printing and The Waterman. Also Callagy Tire is now sponsoring our “Hottest Wheel & Tire Setup” trophy that again is being given to a lucky participant. What an overwhelming response in supporting the cruise and Second Harvest!! A grateful and heartfelt “Thank You” to all our sponsors from the MOB. For all those needing anyone of the sponsors services, let’s remember their generosity. TOGETHER we can join forces in aiding those less fortunate in our community. As I socialized with many of the members, I had a conversation with one couple who will be leaving Florida to Virginia— Pat and Ben Lewis. Ben assured me that he will retain his MOB membership and will place it by the new one he established in Virginia. The MOB wishes Ben and Pat the best and we will miss them. Have a safe trip! On a sad note, I received an email from Gary and Carol Peterford. Then were traveling to the picnic but only got as far as Hwy 518 (Eau Galle) where the truck broke down. Unfortunately, they had it towed back to Rockledge so we hope everything will turn out well for them. Missed you folks at the picnic but there will be other times at the events. Here are some photos of the picnic: 7 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter 8 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter 9 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter 10 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter Editors Commentary by John Capua, PhD We had another exciting month with all the MOB activities. We had our 2015 Annual MOB picnic scheduled on 4/25/15 at Fisherman's Landing in Grant FL and it was a lot of fun and socialization. The MOBs participation for car events has been outstanding in Kissimmee, Cocoa Village, and Melbourne Fast & Furious 7. Keep up the good work! Look at the May events because we sure have many things going on. One in particular is the 5/30/15 ‘Pets for Warriors’ car show at Baer Air in Melbourne FL. Please reserve this day and attend this event because we want a big turnout from the MOB. Look at the flyer and Car Events for more information. I will also need volunteers to help us at the show. Either see Wayne Wolke or myself. If you need flyers to distribute, let us know. As you had read with the article on the Cruise In, we were hammered with a storm (lightning, and heavy wind/rain) but still managed to get 72 cars. It was fun for everyone even if we were soaking wet and me with a lump in my head from the tent hitting me. Oh well that’s the way it goes. We will be having some new business ventures to be discussed in our next General Membership meeting and Penny Anderson wrote an article about this in the Newsletter. So I encourage you to attend to know about the MOB’s business direction for the future. We also discussed the MOBs annual budget in the last meeting, however we did not finish the presentation and will do it in the May meeting. As a reminder, budgets are a necessity for the survival of any business and now that we have one, our financial forecast throughout the year is clearer. Well my co-author ‘Boots’ is getting restless and wants his treats so we got to go for now. Yes, he is always with me when I work in my office at home. Remember ‘Working Together’ makes a difference. Also we have an upcoming Memorial Day weekend so be save and enjoy the Holiday with your friends and families. Pay tribute to our military veterans of past and current. Another note: next month I will have a special edition of the Newsletter for the MOB Military Veterans. I will send out more information on this later. 11 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter 12 February May 2014 2015 Volume Volume3, 4,Issue Issue 2 5 Super Bee Lines May 2015 Newsletter Monthly Cruise-in Calendar Week Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Cruise-in at Tony’s Hotrod Hoagies on Nasa Blvd (Corner of Wickham Rd, Melbourne) 5pm till ..
