2015 Individual Match Play (At Least Two Match Play Games unless you have a BYE) Kick Off : Thur, July 2 at TP [7:30AM Shotgun Start] (Not here?...you can reschedule) All Subsequent matches are arranged by players; ALL SUMMER LONG!!... until mid-October. THAT IS RIGHT ...IF YOU ARE HERE FOR EVEN PART OF THE SUMMER ... YOU SHOULD SIGN UP TO PLAY. Format: Individual Match Play – Net, based on current CH from tees played. Flights are comprised of eight players or less; choice of tees across flights (see below); players within each flight play from the same tees [Note: If there are fewer than six players from the all Green, Platinum, & Rust tees, the flight will include other players]. Players within flights are seeded by course handicap, based on June 15th index. In each match, the lower course handicap player plays “scratch” with the other player rolling off the lower handicap player for assigned stroke holes, as they fall on the scorecard. Each player, win or lose, plays at least a second match, assuming you do not have a BYE. If you lose your first match, you continue in the Consolation Bracket, where you can still win money and play up to two more matches. Prize money grows with each match won. Flight winners will likely win at least $70 each and Overall Champion will likely win over $225, depending on overall size of the field. Not here for big blocks of time this summer? ... NO PROBLEM. As long as you are here for even part of the summer (at least 1/3 of the time from July 1 – October 15), there is MAXIMUM flexibility to find a suitable time for you and your opponent to play your match. I am not going to call the “clock” on anyone, but rather just encourage you to set up your match at the earliest convenient date for both players. By June 25th on the MPMGA website you will find the Match Play Brackets and full instructions regarding how to set up and report out your match play results, once we get by the July 2nd Kick-Off for this event. Determining Overall Champion Among Flight Winners: Once the flight winners are determined, playoff matches are arranged by the players You have the option to play your match at any of our three courses (or offsite if you prefer), and you may choose to play from any tee during the playoffs. In accordance with Section 9.3c in the USGA Handicap Manual, if the match is between players who play from different tees than course handicaps will be adjusted for differences in course rating between the two sets of tees. Just Go to MPMGA Website and Click the July 2nd Event to Add Your Name to the Sign-Up List. You can pay your $20 entry fee when you check-in that day.
