Manassas Park Middle School Teacher is the
2015 Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year
Manassas Park City Schools is proud to announce that Ms. Lisa Hill, a Language Arts teacher
from Manassas Park Middle School, has been recognized as the 2015 Washington Post Agnes
Meyer Outstanding Teacher of the Year.
Ms. Hill is a 19 year veteran teacher of Manassas Park City Schools. Ms. Hill has
assumed a wide variety of roles and assignments during her tenure in Manassas
Park City Schools. She is currently in her 14th year of teaching 8th grade
Language Arts and previously taught 6th grade Language Arts, 7th grade PreAlgebra and 7th grade Computer Applications as well as 8th grade American
Studies. Of particular note she is a National Board Certified Teacher in Early
Adolescent English Language Arts. She has served in several leadership roles
such as Summer School Principal, serves as MPMS School Improvement Team
Chairperson, and is an important member of the District Accreditation Team for
AdvancEd (formerly SACS/CASI) District Accreditation. She was selected Language Arts Department
Chair in 1999 and still serves in that role today.
“Ms. Hill has continued success with her students. She has the ability to motivate struggling students
and challenge those achieving at a higher level. Ms. Hill has earned National Board Certification which
exemplifies her ability to meet the needs of all learners and reflect on better practices to continually
implement differentiated instruction. Her incredible rapport with her students has earned their
respect and they strive to be successful,” says her colleague Ms. Carrie Reardon.
Superintendent Bruce McDade said, “Ms. Hill brings a value-added level of commitment and dedication
to our school division. Her contributions both in and out of the classroom are immense, and as a
result, our students and school community are richer. We are so fortunate to have her serve with
honor and distinction in Manassas Park.”
Manassas Park City Schools thanks Ms. Lisa Hill for her outstanding work and success at Manassas Park
Middle School and congratulates her for this outstanding honor.
