district in northern Italy, Team 3D is a
Siemens PLM Software partner that has
successfully evolved from a technical
engineering firm to a marketing-driven
sales organization.
Team 3D’s desirable location, 60 kilometers north of Milan, provides access to a
wide variety of manufacturing and design
firms. The company’s diverse client base
ranges from machinery manufacturers, to
aluminum and plastic mold and die companies, to industrial power generation
companies and oil and gas firms, to manufacturers of bicycle helmets, skis, gardening tools and other consumer products.
Under the leadership of the company
founder, Mauro Barra, the company has
supported the Siemens PLM Software
direct sales force as a training partner
since 2000. In 2006, the organization
was approached by Siemens PLM Software
to join the partner program to increase
support of the NX™ software and
Teamcenter® software for manufacturing,
and Team 3D was formed. Siemens PLM
Software helped get the partnership off to
a fast start by providing the first install
base of twenty or so customers.
Core transformation
In 2011, Antonio Martinelli joined the
company as a partner and head of sales.
With a successful track record selling of NX
and Teamcenter products, and deep technical experience, Martinelli helped focus
the company on growing the customer
base. Armed with a new business plan and
product quota commitment, the company
initiated a sales management process and
installed a customer relationship management (CRM) system to allow more accurate
tracking of leads and prospects. Team 3D
transformed from an engineering company to a value-added, technical product
reseller.

13 employees, the company recently
added regional sales and sales engineering
reps in the city of Turin. This expanded its
geographic coverage and created a new
target market with increased
