A. Dear Diary…
a. Imagine that you are one of the characters from the novel. Write at least
three diary/journal entries from this character’s perspective. Be sure that each
entry is seven to ten sentences in length.
B. Trading Cards…
a. Create at least four trading cards for characters from the novel. An image
and the character's name should be on the front of each card. Facts and
interesting information about the character should be included on the back of
each card.
C. Article Analysis…
a. Locate a nonfiction article about the
Titanic
using the internet. Create a
graphic representation using the article as a resource. Be sure to include the
title of the article, source, date of the article’s publication, the author’s
purpose, the main idea of the article, including two specific details that
support the main ideas, and a piece of evidence that indicates the article’s
credibility. (HINT… Think “Science News” format.)
D. Scrapbook Page…
a. Using electronic images, clipart, words, writing, artifacts, and/or photographs,
create a scrapbook page that tells the story of the

Passenger Perspectives…
a. Compare the experiences of the first, second, and third class passengers in
everyday life on the ship. Consider accommodations, food, treatment by the
crew, access to parts of the ship, fare paid, etc.
Illustrated Plot Diagram…
a. Create an illustrated plot diagram depicting the various parts of the novel.
You should include an illustration and explanation for the following parts:
exposition (setting, characters, and conflict), rising action (three or more
events), climax, falling action, and resolution.
Survivor Stories…
a. Compare the accounts of three
Titanic
survivors. Be sure to gather details
regarding each survivor’s age at the time of the
Titanic’s
sailing, family or
friends traveling with them, the purpose of their trip on the
Titanic
, which class
(First, Second, or Third) each was, what each individual was doing at the time
the ship hit the iceberg, and whether or not he or she had time to put on a
coat and/or life vest.
Responsible Party…
a. Who or what was to blame for the disaster?Consider the ship’s speed, the
number of lifeboats, binoculars, and ignored ice messages from other ships.
Explore the Infohio databases from which copies of 1912 newspapers may be
found. Compose a one-to-two page essay explaining who or what should
bear the blame.
Comic Strip…
a. Create one comic strip with a minimum of five slides that highlights an
important event in the book. Make sure that the dialogue is realistic for the
characters and time period. You may use a website such as Bitstrips or Pixton
to assist you with the creation of your comics
