Treatment Philosophy
The treatment philosophy at Insight Behavioral Health Centers emphasizes assessment, intervention and discharge planning to support sustainable
recovery from eating disorders, mood and anxiety disorders and obesity. Individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plans deliver
cutting-edge medical, psychiatric, psychological and nutritional interventions.
Partnering with Eating Recovery Center
In addition to best-practice sharing among the field’s esteemed eating disorders experts, Eating Recovery Center’s Denver-based Inpatient and
Residential programs provide a higher level of care treatment resource for Insight’s patients and families. Additionally, partnering with Eating
Recovery Center provides resources to expand Insight’s treatment programming to help more individuals touched by serious mental illnesses. In an
effort to increase 24-hour treatment to patients and families in the Midwest, Insight offers a robust 24/7 care program for adults with eating, mood
and anxiety disorders. Opening in Spring 2014, Insight provides specialized behavioral health care for up to 16 patients in a state-of-the-art treatment
center in downtown Chicago’s Streeterville neighborhood. Insight’s medical and clinical leadership work closely with Eating Recovery Center’s experts
to ensure effective delivery of evidence-based treatment philosophies, processes and interventions in a 24-hour treatment environment. Recognizing
the importance of continuity of care between all levels of care for sustainability of recovery, this location is in close proximity to Insight’s other 4 area
treatment centers.

Levels of Care
24/7 Care Program (Eating Disorders, Mood and Anxiety Disorders)
• Opening Spring 2014.
• Female and male adult patients.
• Full-day programming, 7 days-per-week with medically supervised living.
• Round-the-clock nursing.
• Medical and psychiatric supervision.
• Emphasis on stabilization, weight restoration (when appropriate) and interruption of maladaptive thoughts and behaviors.
• Structured schedule incorporating therapy and opportunities to learn and practice recovery behaviors.
• Multidisciplinary treatment teams consist of psychiatrists, internal medicine physicians, psychologists, individual and family therapists,
Registered Dietitians, Registered Nurses, art, movement and experiential therapists and other patients support staff.
• Therapeutic interventions include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral
Therapy (CBT) and experiential therapies.
• Discharge planning and aftercare coordination, including step-down levels of treatment.
Partial Hospitalization Programs (Eating Disorders, Mood and Anxiety Disorders)
• Specialized programming for adolescents and adults.
• Full-day programming, 7 days-per-week provides ample structure and containment to interrupt behaviors.
• Daytime medical support available as needed.
• Curriculum emphasizes the development of lifelong recovery skills and staff-supported opportunities to practice for interactions and
challenges outside of treatment.
• Patients “test” recovery during evenings at home or in professionally supervised apartment communities.
• Direct-admit or step-down level of care.
Intensive Outpatient Programs (Eating Disorders, Mood and Anxiety Disorders, Obesity and Reproductive Mental Health)
• Specialized programming for adults and adolescents.
• Flexible programs offer up to 9 hours of treatment per week, allowing patients to remain engaged in their daily lives.
• Overseen by a team of psychologists, individual and family therapists and Registered Dietitians.
• Direct-admit or step-down level of care.
