UPDATE 1
Tram improvement work
Track renewal & maintenance
Toorak Rd, Park St & Domain Rd, South Yarra
Saturday 28 to Tuesday 31 March 2015
As part of the modernisation of Melbourne’s tram network, Yarra Trams and
Public Transport Victoria are replacing tram tracks on Toorak Road, Park Street
and Domain Road in South Yarra.
The work will take place on:
• Toorak Road between Punt Road and Park Street
• Park Street between Toorak Road and Domain Road
• Domain Road between Park street and Millswyn Street
Timing
From 1.30am on Saturday 28 March, continuing 24 hours a day until 5am on Tuesday 31 March 2015.
Benefits
Worn and broken tram tracks on Toorak Road, Park Street and Domain Road require replacement
they are over 28 years old.
This track work will improve safety for everyone, deliver a better road surface for motorists, cyclists
and tram passengers, and less tram noise due to potholes, broken rails and wheel squealing.
Supporting local business
Yarra Trams is working closely with City of Melbourne to minimise the impact of this work on
local traders.
For any specific concerns regarding access to your business or property during the works, please call

Noise disruption
Noise from machinery, vehicles and work crews is unavoidable but Yarra Trams will do all it can to
keep this to a minimum.
The noisiest work will occur between 6am and 10pm.
However there may be a need to conduct noisy work outside these hours to ensure that the work is
completed by 5am on Tuesday 31 March.
PTO
Motorists
Road closures will apply on Toorak Road between Punt Road and Park Street. Park Street between
Toorak Road and Domain Road, and Domain Road between Park Street and Millswyn Street will
also be closed.
Pedestrians
The work zone will be fenced off for safety but footpaths will remain open to allow pedestrian
access to all businesses and residences within the work zone.
Tram passengers
Route 8 trams will be affected. For details closer to the time, refer to signage on the network or
onboard brochures. Bus replacements will be in operation for the three days of work.

and is necessary to maintain a safe tram network as required by the Rail Safety Act 2006 (Vic).
Accordingly Yarra Trams will not be compensating third parties for any losses incurred during the
