INTRODUCTION
The UCI Continental Race named II Panamerican Mountain Bike Marathon – Villa Colón is an
XCM event registered in the UCI international calendar. This Technical Guide covers the
procedures for the race scheduled for Sunday May 17, 2015.
The purpose of the event is to develop America, Mountain Bike riders and revitalize cycling
and expand the mountain bike cycling population in Costa Rica as a whole.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Category of event
The event is Cross Country Continental Marathon format (XCM) for Elite Men and Elite
Women, is a race of the Series Marathon—UCI calendar..
International Commissaire
The International Commissaire appointed by the UCI as President of the
Commissaires’ Panel THOMAS Daniel; He will be assisted by a team of National
Commissaries appointed by the Costa Rica National Federation, according to UCI
Rules.
Venue
The event will take place in San José in the Villa Colón Village located between Santa
Ana and Puriscal.

First Aid (Cruz Roja)
The Organization will provide first aid at the venue during official training and during
competition. Participants will be responsible for any further treatment and resulting
costs after the event.

ENTRY PROCEDURE
A valid 2015 UCI license issued by a National Federation is required. Racing may not be
permitted to riders not showing their racing license at registration.
Registration fee is as follows: Elite
Men and Elite Women : $ 100.00
Costa Ricans
C 20.000.00
All participants, national riders and foreigners riders, must have a license that adequately
insures against accidents and civil responsibility. The organizer will not compensate for any
accidents and injuries that may occur.
These Panamerican race have Fun category and be separate at the UCI master
each five years categories, all Registrations fee cost categories at same cost.
LICENSE CONTROL / NUMBER PICK UP
Racers must complete license control and number pick up by Saturday May 16 at 5pm.
And the Fun category have our special attention with judges of the organization and at
Saturday 16 have the participation list in the web page.
TRAINING PERIOD
From May 01 on the entire course will be marked with spray paint. On Saturday May 16
the entire course will be marked with the official UCI signage.
TEAM MANAGERS’ MEETING
The meeting is scheduled for May 16, at 15:00 in the official hotel.
CALL-UPS PROCEDURE
Racer call-ups will be based first on current UCI ranking and second on the current National
ranking based on the Endurance 2015 National Series. Start lists will be available at the
Team Managers’ Meeting.
FEED / TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE ZONES
The provisions can be given only in the specified zones. Support staff will be allowed to aid
their athletes with foodstuff and water or similar. The Organization will demarcate the Feed
Zones 50 meters before and 50 meters after the Technical Assistance area. All three zones
will be numbered and will have START ASSISTANCE and FINISH ASSISTANCE signs. The
organizer will provide a shuttle vehicle in each of the zones to transport racers who are
unable to finish their race back to the start/finish area.

AWARD CEREMONY
The award ceremony will take place 15 minutes after the conclusion of the race and medals
will be awarded to the top 5 finishers in all categories. In addition Prize Money according to
UCI guidelines will be issued to riders at the awards.
The five first rider must attend the awards ceremonies and be present on the podium wearing
their rider uniform. Failure to do so will result in a fine and loss of award (including prize
money). Riders who cannot attend the awards ceremony must advise the President of the
Commissaires’ Panel and the organizer with a valid reason.

COURSE MARKINGS / SIGNAGE
The course will be clearly marked with signage according to UCI standards along the course.
These directional arrows will indicate the path to follow. These arrows will be located to the
right of the course; from 10 to 20 meters before a crossroad an arrow must be marked, and
10 meters after the same crossroad another arrow will be marked to confirm that the
participants are on course. The letter X will show an incorrect direction.
Every 10K a sign will indicate the remaining distance to the finish.

ANTI-DOPING
Anti-Doping Procedures are in effect and anti-doping control is expected. Doping control
facilities will be made available.
