Dear Quilters,
Happy Spring and pre-summer to you! If there was anything to be in agreement about this
past winter- it was that it was a long one! We certainly are looking forward now to the
wonderful rebirth of flowers and foliage.
I wrote in my past newsletter about my new years resolution of making a quilt using leaders
and enders. Did any of you take up the challenge? I'm still sewing away with leaders and
enders. My pile isn't as big as I want at this point as sometimes I've forgotten to do it-must be
senior moments! So, if you haven't taken up the challenge yet, cut 2" squares from your
scraps, sew two together, and then continue with whatever project you are sewing on, and
end with two 2" squares sewed together. They will become the new leader for you. Doesn't
make any sense to you? Stop in and I will show you. In the end they will be put together in 16
patches sashed with black.
We are still doing School House, but in a revised format. Here's the info on it:

I have decided to change the format for School House this year. We will still have a tent out
front where you can see the demos - there will be some in the shop too! The day is structured
as an Open House. The demos will be going on constantly from 10:00 - 3:00, so you can plan
your day accordingly. I can't tell you what the demos will be, as I haven't been to Quilt Market
yet. I will bring back the latest and greatest notions, patterns, gadgets - whatever it is that I
find! You, the attendees will be the first to see all of the "goodies" that we haul back here.
Every attendee will receive a door prize. As you know from past years, you receive a sale price
on all the "goodies" too. We also will have special sales in the shop! An event you won't want
to miss!
The shop will be closed Saturday, July 4th and Saturday, September 5th. Enjoy the
summer.... and as I always write: in my newsletter because it's so true: you are all fun, friendly,
and fantastic women! (And men-you are too!) I sincerely thank you for attending classes and
shopping at Mt. Pleasant Quilting.

Our Classes
Class Policy
Because our classes fill so quickly and have waiting lists, I have found it necessary to initiate the following policy:
• For BOM's (Block of Month) or ROM's (Row of Month) or TOM (Technique of Month) classes, 50% of the total
payment is due at signup. Remaining balance is due midway through the classes.
• For all other classes total payment is due at signup.

And a moo moo here...she had some chicks...and Ei-Ei-Oh. Wait till you see the barn quilts in this project
or the quilt the goat is chewing! You can accomplish intricate designs easily using fusible straight edge
machine stitched appliqué and will become an artist throughout the process of recreating your very
own McKenna Ryan masterpiece. Appropriate for quilters of all skill levels.

Wish Upon
Saturdays, May 16th & July 18th, 10:00 - 3:00
Make this spectacular star quilt with either scraps for a scrappy look or pick 6 coordinated fabrics for a
more controlled look. Then add a background fabric and a border fabric to complete this quilt. The
project uses three Tucker tools: the Wing Clipper, Tucker Trimmer and the Split Rects tool. The quilt can
be made in two different sizes: lap or full- you pick!

Stack-n-Whack
Friday, May 29th, 10:00 - 3:00
This class sure has been a favorite one! Barb has taught it to over 500 gals since we opened the shop.
Once you take this class, you will never look at fabric the same way again. You need only one fabric to
make the 12 different star blocks, plus a background and accent fabric. It’s exciting to see how each
block evolves into a new design. You’ll be oohing and aahing! Just you wait and see!

Opposites Attract

This quilt is great for the beginning quilter or the quilter who wants to hone their skills.
The pattern is written for sizes: baby, lap, twin, full, queen or king. This quilt is a fast and fun quilt that
changes drastically with the placement of the fabrics. It only uses three fabrics....but with dramatic
effects. You will have this quilt completed at the end of the three sessions (of course with a little
homework too!)

Teapot Bouquet or Vintage Ice Skates

Your choice-which one will you do? Both projects are crayon tinted and hand embroidered. The 8" x 7"
Teapot Bouquet is the perfect herald of Spring! Pansies, Bleeding Hearts, Forget Me Nots, and Lily of the
Valley in an old teapot with a sparkling edging of Sparkle Floss! The 10" x 15" picture or 24" x 30" wall
hanging of the Vintage Ice Skates is filled with glittering ornaments and fir boughs. Its sweet colors could
also be worked in rich Christmas brights for a totally different look! Sparkle floss is used liberally to add
that holiday glow!

Hand painted chickadees nestle in a lush foliage, sprinkled with berries. The exquisite panel will be cut
apart and pieced. This striking designed quilt will add a touch of winter charm to any room. Kits

The "Geese Migration" book is soon to be released by Judy Niemeyer. About a year ago, if you recall,
JN Certified Shops were invited to design a quilt using several of Judy's foundation paper pieced
components. I chose to design a quilt, therefore my quilt is in the book. (How else would I ever get
published?) So, I thought it would be great if you could design your own special quilt using some of the
paper pieced components that are available to choose from. You would be designing your own layout,
your size and we would help you choose your colors if you wanted us to. Don't want to design your
own quilt, but want to make a quilt from the book? This class is still for you. There are 29 quilts to
choose from. I think its a win-win situation. Want to design your own - or want to make one from the
book? Both decisions are winners! The book will be discounted.
No experience necessary in paper piecing!

I have enjoyed making these 3 wallet/purses. The Diva Frame is 8"w x 4 1/2" L when closed, the Glam
Shell is 8" x 7" when closed and the Quick Clutch Wallet is 7 1/2" W x 4" L when closed. Each one uses the
Diva metal frame: gold, silver, black, or blush gold available. They all have pockets, credit card holder
slots, and 1 or 2 zippers. Now-don't let that zipper part scare you away. I will make it painless for you.
Choose one of the 3 samples to sew in class.

Quilted Village (2nd offering)

Wait 'till you see this quilt - I am in love with it! I've always loved houses, buildings and trees in quilts.
This runs the gamut from a Schoolhouse, to a white Church, Saltbox house, Three Story with Dormers,
etc. There's appliqué, foundation paper piecing, regular piecing, and hand or ribbon embroidery
techniques in this project. I will make sure you each have success in completing this quilt. It will be an
heirloom!

Woodland Tree Skirt/Table Topper

This 52" tree skirt - (a table topper if you don't want to cut it) has a primitive flavor to it with homespun's,
raw-edged appliquéd pine trees, snowman, deer and log cabins in the woods. You'll have it completed

Rugged High Country

Make a landscape scene by shifting stitched strips up and down- the bargello technique- using the quiltas-you-go method. When you're done, you're done! If you choose, you may add fusible raw edge
appliqué trees, clouds, rocks, pond, and even a bear. A 44" x 55" size wall quilt. Kits available.

You've requested....here it is! This magnificent tree skirt is a Judy Niemeyer foundation paper pieced
project. It really is a beauty. I haven't cut the hole in mine to make it a tree skirt -looks great on my
table! You do not have to have any experience in paper piecing to complete this project.

Do you have pre-cuts in your stash and not sure what to do with them? Are you afraid to buy a jelly roll,
charm pack, layer cake, or fat quarter bundle because you don't know what to do with them? Spend a
day with Diane to learn about and experiment with pre-cuts. Enjoy a trunk show. Get started on a
project using a free pattern. You will need a mini charm pack, a charm pack, or a layer cake. Pick out
your background fabric the day of class.

Did you know sunflowers and canning jars go together? Wait 'till you see this adorable 6 x 22
wallhanging! You will be piecing, hand embroidering and machine appliquéing. If you are new to any of

ROW BY ROW EXPERIENCE HOP 2015
This year's theme is "water." If you're not familiar with the Row by Row
Hop....you can hop and shop at participating quilt shops throughout United
States and some Canadian provinces during the summer. The selected
theme for this year is water. Free patterns will be ready to hand out: June
21. Quilters can travel, collect patterns from June 21 - Sept. 8th. First
person to bring in a completed quilt, using at least 8 different rows to a
participating shop will receive 25 fat quarters. If that particular shop’s row is
in the quilt, there will be a bonus prize. You can collect fabric license plates
from each shop too. Have fun traveling and collecting.
