ŠKODA Muzeum, L&K Forum.
BIRTH OF A CAR FACTORY
One hundred and twenty years ago the manufacture of bicycles, later
followed by motorbikes and cars, started in Mladá Boleslav. The first
steps, or rather giant leaps, towards the success of the Laurin &
Klement (and later ŠKODA) brand are presented in an exhibition about
the first three decades of the car manufacturing company. At ŠKODA
Muzeum from 24 April until the end of the year 2015.
LAURIN & KLEMENT / ŠKODA: 120 YEARS OF SUCCESS – MINI
EXHIBITION
The Laurin & Klement bicycle factory was founded in 1895 in
Mladá Boleslav within the borders of what is the Czech
Republic today. At the turn of the nineteenth century, the
company’s range was expanded with modernized motorcycles,
designed by L&K, and soon after that the first series car made
its debut in 1905. However, the commercial and sports success
of the dynamically evolving brand was not limited to the heart
of Europe. The wares of one of the world’s oldest car
manufacturers, operating under the name ŠKODA since 1925,
made it to all inhabited continents. This mini exhibition looks
back on the key milestones in the company’s history; not only
in production, but also in motorsport, technical development
and design. The exhibition will be open throughout the year.
