High School Attendance Requirements High School students may not be absent (excused or unexcused) more than 3 days. This attendance policy is in accordance with summer instructional requirements as prescribed by the Virginia Department of Education. Tardies and early dismissals are factored in as a half day’s absence. See the examples below: • Two tardies or two early dismissals will be counted as one absence, regardless of the amount of time involved. • 3 absences + 1 tardy = withdrawal. • 1 absence + 4 tardies and early dismissal = withdrawal. Students who are absent in excess of three days will be withdrawn. There can be NO EXCEPTIONS. Exams Matoaca H.S. Meadowbrook H.S. Fine Arts Academy Dates: July 6 - July 30, 2015 Site: Tomahawk M.S. REGISTRATION Middle School Registration: April 20 - June 16 High School Registration: May 11 - June 12 Special Ed Registration: April 20 - May 22 Students should register in the School Counseling Office of their home school. Tuition is due in full at time of registration with checks payable to the student’s home school. Home school registration ends at 2:00 p.m. on June 12, 2015. Tuition payments at late registration MUST be cash or money order payable to CCPS. Checks and credit cards are not accepted. Late registration, for HIGH SCHOOL students only, will be held on Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24, from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Chesterfield Technical Center, 10101 Courthouse Rd, Chesterfield, VA. In order to register late, CCPS students must bring a Late Registration Permission Form from their home school. Students who register late are not guaranteed class placement. Seats will be offered on a space available basis and students may face closed classes. Non-residents may register on the final day of late registration for high school classes on a space available basis. The tuition fee is double that of Chesterfield residents. Students are required to bring a letter from their school granting permission to take the requested class through Chesterfield County Public Schools and proof of immunization. Students are expected to take exams when they are administered to the class. End of Course SOL tests will only be given on the high school level. Credit High school students can earn one unit of credit upon successfully completing the course. All Chesterfield County Public Schools’ Standards for Student Conduct and individual building rules are in effect for Summer Session. An acknowledgement sheet is to be signed by both the student and a parent or guardian and returned to the school. Lunch Lunch is not served. Students are encouraged to bring a snack from home or be prepared to use the vending machines. Refund Provisions • No refunds will be given after 2:00 p.m. on June 12, except for cancelled classes. • Chesterfield County Public Schools reserves the right to cancel classes for which there is insufficient enrollment. Students who have enrolled in a class that has insufficient enrollment or a class that has reached maximum enrollment will be notified. Students will have the option of attending another site on a space available basis or receiving a refund • Refunds will be made by the Summer Session Office for courses which are cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. • Refunds will not be authorized for students withdrawn for disciplinary reasons or excessive absences. This course will address thematic academic content area units with a focus on English language development across the four domains of reading, writing, speaking, and listening. ESOL Developmental Math (ES061O) Grades 6-8 Grades 9-12 Dates: July 6 - July 30 Time: 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Tuition: $224.00 Falling Creek M.S. @ Meadowbrk Meadowbrook & James River Monday - Thursday All summer school sites will have access to Special Education Consultants for students with emotional and/or learning disabilities. Autism (IP0479) This course will provide reinforcement in math and language arts for students with autism who are currently instructed on an aligned standards of learning curriculum (ASOL). The teacher will use a structured, multi-sensory approach along with environmental supports to meet the individual needs of each student. Students must be currently served in an ASOL autism program. ASOL Math and Reading (SL103O) This course will provide reinforcement in math and language arts for students who are currently instructed on an aligned standards of learning curriculum. The teacher will use differentiated instruction techniques to meet the individual needs of each student. Students with mild mental disabilities, moderate mental disabilities, or severe disabilities may be appropriately served in this class. ADDITIONAL OPTIONS ESOL Developmental Math is an enrichment course for recently arrived English Learners. The course will address language development and academic achievement in math. The curriculum is designed to emphasize all 4 domains of language development through the introduction of grade-level math content, vocabulary, concepts, and academic language necessary for success in the math classroom. Dates: July 6 - July 30 Tuition: $224. 00 Monday - Thursday Time: 8:30 am - 12:30 p.m. Registration for all summer classes (academic, enrichment and special education) is restricted to the placement and/or services the student received during the 2014-15 academic year. Registration: April 20 - May 22, 2015 Students must register by 2:00 p.m. on May 22, 2015. Tuition must be paid in full at registration with checks payable to the student’s home school. Late registrations will not be accepted. CCPS ON-LINE LEARNING Chesterfield County Public Schools also offers online courses as additional summer learning opportunities for high school students. The program operates on a different schedule from the regular summer program. CCPS FINE ARTS ACADEMY Located at Tomahawk Creek M.S.., the Fine Arts Academy offers a variety of classes in art and music for current Chesterfield County Public Schools students in grades K - 12. The Fine Arts Academy runs from July 6 - July 30. Registration takes place in the home school, April 20 - June 12. Refer to the Fine Arts Academy Flyer for specific class information.
