Ever since the official opening of the state-of-the-art Sepang International circuit on March 9 1999 by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the venue was always meant for big and great things with a bright future ahead. It was completed in a record 14 months and with the recognition of its ultramodern facilities, it was given the honour to incorporate the F1 logo in its name. So what exactly makes it unique as a sports and racing landmark? Firstly, Sepang is well renowned for its convenience. The Sepang International Circuit is located about 45 minutes away from KLIA. Visitors travelling from downtown Kuala Lumpur can board shuttle buses at various pickup points such as KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, and Mid Valley (RM4 to RM16), taxis (approximately RM70) or limousines (approximately RM100) that head directly to the Sepang Circuit during major racing events.
