Activity Information and Consent Form
Dear Parent/Guardian,
Peak 2015 is a joint Scout and Guide Camp and so will follow the activity guidelines issued by both
Associations in relation to activities at a joint Camp. This means that every Scout/ Guide, Senior Section
Member and Explorer Scout that is attending Peak 2015 must return to their Section (Scout/Guide)
Leader a Peak 2015 Activity Consent Form signed by their parent/ guardian.
We are offering over 60 activities at Peak 2015 (see over for list). Only shooting and water-based
activities have specific requirements. All are “walk on” activities, though some have a limit on numbers.
Not every young person is therefore guaranteed a chance to try all the activities, but we hope that they
will have the chance to access as many as they wish.
For those with additional needs – some adaptations to activities are available to allow them to try the
experience. If for any reason, (e.g. medical/health), your Scout/Guide cannot take part in specific
activities listed overleaf – please inform their section leader.
For water activities it is important that we know that your child can swim at least 50 metres and keep
afloat in appropriate clothing with a buoyancy aid for 5 minutes.
Signing this form allows your Scout/Guide the opportunity to experience a wide range of activities at
Peak 2015. However, if you do not sign this form (and return to their Scout/Guide section leader by the
date below), your Scout/Guide will not be able to take part in any activities at Peak 2015, even crafts.
Every activity is supervised by qualified and experienced adult leaders, often supported by a number of
younger Scout and Guide Association members.
All young people will be encouraged to try as many activities as possible but none will be forced into
doing an activity that they do not wish to do.
Each Scout/Guide will have a wrist band clearly stating if they can swim 50m and are allowed to shoot.
All bands will be checked by activity team members on arrival at an activity.
Please indicate if your Scout/Guide can swim/float as required and whether or not they are allowed to
shoot.
Then, sign and date the permission form and return it to your Scout/Guide section leader no later than
11 May 2015

AN EXTRACT FROM THE FIREARMS ACT 1968 “SECTION 21”
PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING THE DECLARATION
SECTION 21 Prohibits the possession of a firearm and ammunition (under any circumstances), by any person who has been
convicted of a crime and sentenced to a term of imprisonment (or its equivalent for young persons) of 3 months or more.
The prohibition applies in all circumstances, including handling and firing at an approved shooting club or at a clay pigeon
shoot where a certificate is not ordinarily required. It also applies to the possession or use of other categories of firearms and
ammunition such as AIRGUNS for which a certificate is not needed. A sentence of 3 months to 3 years also incurs a 5 years
prohibition, shorter ones incur no prohibition but a longer one means a life ban.
