Resident $300/Non-Resident $350 8 Northbrook Golf Academy One-Week Summer Camps The NGA offers camps, under the direction of award-winning youth golf leader Michael Wenzel. PGA professionals teach the camps, which include competitions, tournaments, prizes and a gift bag for each participant. Students of all levels can enjoy daily on-course play, practice on a grass tee at the range, complimentary rental clubs, discounts on equipment, and games with a focus on long-term skill development. Level 1 (Ages 5-7) Explore the game of golf for the first time, learning basic skills through fun games. A step-by-step process focuses on fundamentals and skills with daily on-course play. Level 2 (Ages 7-9) Golfers improve basic strokes and learn about rules, etiquette and safety while playing on-course at Anetsberger and using the practice areas at Sportsman’s. Level 3 (Ages 9-12) Players learn how to manage the course strategically, while enhancing fundamentals and shot-making skills. Practices incorporate skills challenges and competitions. V1 video swing analysis and TrackMan system technologies assist instruction. Lunch is included. Level 4A (Advanced) (Ages 12-14) Players develop the skills needed to play competitive golf. Our tournament-experienced staff will cover advanced short game and full swing techniques, as well as course management, green reading, pre-shot routines, shot selection, mental strategies, practice and scoring techniques. Players experience daily on-course play and instruction. In addition, our TrackMan system and V1 technology assist with analyzing students’ equipment and swings. Lunch is included. Level 4B (Beginner) (Ages 12-14) Beginner-to-intermediate players learn to play golf recreationally, focusing on full swing, short game, and on-course shot selection and techniques. Players learn how to get the most out of their game and develop skills to play with confidence. 9 Youth Golf Development Program The Northbrook Golf Academy (NGA) Youth Development and Camp Program is under the direction of Michael Wenzel, an award-winning Junior Golf Leader, 2014 U.S. Kids Master Kids Teacher, and one of Golf Digest’s “Best Teachers in State.” The program offers many opportunities for boys and girls to learn and improve their games. The program focuses on skills development and individual progression through each level with designated benchmarks to achieve. Our instructors use high-speed video as well as club delivery and launch monitor data from TrackMan to offer the area’s best golf instruction. (Complimentary club rentals are available by request.) Little Stars (Ages 3-4) Check out the greatest invention in golf in the last 50 years. SNAG® (Starting New at Golf) is an easy and fun program designed for beginning golfers. Introduce your young children to golf with this innovative development program that combines modified equipment and exciting programming. Children learn the game with easy-to-hit balls, clubs and Velcro-type targets. With simple rules and terms that add to the fun, children learn how to swing, putt and chip with just two clubs. It’s the coolest way to learn golf! Students receive a free round of mini-golf at Sportsman’s. Future Stars: Level 1 (Ages 4-6) Introduce children to the game of golf with instruction covering the basics of putting, chipping and the full swing. Children will learn their way around a golf course and receive a free round of mini-golf at Sportsman’s. Future Stars: Level 2 (Ages 6-8) Children continue to explore and enjoy the game. Instruction develops motor skills and enhances hand-eye coordination for the full swing and short game. The goal is to familiarize children with supervised on-course play. Children receive a free round at Anetsberger Golf Course. 10 Par Player: Level 3 (Ages 8-13) Students focus on building full swing and short game fundamentals in preparation for responsible on-course play. Students receive a free round on the East 9 family course for additional play and practice. We recommend that students pass this level before participating in leagues. Birdie Player: Level 4 (Ages 10-13) Players can improve full swing and short game techniques and learn to apply them on-course at Anetsberger and Sportsman’s East 9. More in-depth training, drills and on-course coaching prepare players for unsupervised play. Students receive a free round to play the East 9 family course at Sportsman’s. The youth golf leagues play a key role in developing golf skills and friendships, while providing a safe, welcoming environment for players of all levels. Practices and competitions are at Sportsman’s Classic 18, East 9, the Practice Range and Anetsberger Golf Course. Players are responsible for arranging transportation to events. Competitive Travel League (Ages 10-14) Our senior Academy coaches prepare players to compete, while focusing on full swing and short game fundamentals essential for consistent shot making. Competitive Golf Program for High School Athletes (Ages 14-17) Learn the game from our tournament-experienced coaching staff. Practices include use of high-speed video and TrackMan. 12 Girls’ Golf Socials (Ages 6-13) Start the weekend with friends, fun and golf! Our Friday after-school sessions allow girls to play golf in a social environment, while learning the basic skills of the game, etiquette and rules. Assisted by members of the GBN Girls’ Golf team, our coaches guide the girls every step of the way through warm-ups, practice and on-course play. The daily fee includes the green fee and a snack. Parent/Youth Golf Lessons Learn to play golf as a family in a beautiful, outdoor setting. Enjoy stay-and-play packages on the East 9 family course at Sportsman’s after class. 13 The par-3 Anetsberger Golf Course is located in Techny Prairie Park and Fields at 1750 Techny Road. The golf course provides an excellent opportunity for beginners and anyone wanting to sharpen short game skills. Regular hole yardages range from 95 to 190 yards, and forward tees play from 60 to 120 yards. The Anetsberger facility also offers a large short game practice area that includes a putting green, chipping green, 2 bunkers, and 40 yards of fairway to work on your wedge game. The golf shop at Anetsberger caters to youth players in the community with a wide variety of equipment and apparel from manufacturers such as US Kids Golf and Puma Junior.
