Teen Camp Brochure - North Dakota Vision Services/School for the

Lake Metigoshe Outdoor Learning Center:
The center offers ecology, conservation, cultural and
recreational programming in an outdoor setting. The
state park provides a natural classroom to study the
outdoor environment. They offer a wide range of
ecosystems, including forest, wetlands, prairies, rivers
and lakes. Programs offer interactive learning. One of
the activities we will participate in is the sensory hike.
We will get a sense of how animals rely on adaptations
for survival. In this adventure, we’ll see, hear, smell,
touch and perhaps taste nature while discovering
ecological principles along the way.

Teen Camp
at
International Peace Garden:
International Peace Garden was dedicated July 14,
1932. A cairn, built of stones gathered from North Dakota and Manitoba was the only boundary maker. On either
side of the cairn two flag poles flutter with the Stars and
Stripes and the Maple Leaf. Today students will be able
to see this cairn and flags as well as the floral clock,
floral garden, interpretive center, 9/11 memorial and
much more.
Annie’s House
Annie’s House at Bottineau Winter Park is a year-round
facility to accommodate adaptive sports. It was built in
honor of Ann Nelson, a resident of Stanley, North Dakota
who was the only North Dakota resident to perish in the
World Trade Center attacks in New York City on
9/11. Annie’s father, Gary Nelson, hosted NDVS/SB
students for a weekend event in 2013 and is excited
again to provide opportunity for our students to enjoy
fishing, hiking and horseback riding this summer in the
beautiful Turtle Mountains.
